Welcome
Welcome to RouterTech - the site that gives you a free forum and FAQ based technical support for all things networking. We are completely independent and offer impartial advice. If you are looking for help with a problem with your router, home network or a place to ask about something technical you don't understand, you've found it!

Getting Started

If you are new or have been away for a while, it is well worth familiarising yourself with the forum rules. We don't have many rules and they are there for the smooth running of the forums, but they will be enforced by the moderator team.

It is also very important to note that there are many different ways to find the information and answers you require on this site, and its essential that you exhaust all possible resources the site has for an answer to your question before you post a new topic about it.
  • Check the networking guides
  • Check the FAQ, and use the FAQ search if you cannot find the subject/area you require
  • Search the forums. We provide a comprehensive search function to ensure that if its on the forums it will be found. If you post a question we will assume you have failed to find it using the forum search.
  • Search within a thread if you find a long one that could contain the answer you require but you cannot read it all.
  • If you cannot find your answer by using these methods, it probably hasn't been asked before. Post up a new thread in the appropriate forum with a title that makes it clear what the question is about, and a user of the site or team member will try their best to help you.
  • If you want to find out about us, check the about us area of the site.
If you have any trouble registering in the forums, then please e-mail the admin team admin[at]routertech.org Support questions are not answered at this address.

Downloading Issues
We would like to apologise for a problem which has manifested its self on our server in the last week or so which has resulted in many users being unable to download our firmware.

We are aware of this problem and are working diligently to get it resolved.

In the mean time, please be patient. Please do not start any new threads on the issue or request files to be e-mailed to you. Things should be sorted again in a few days. When the downloads are back to normal this thread will be updated.

Once again apologies for the problems.

Online Firmware Demo
A new online demo of our 2.5 firmware is available from here:

http://www.routertech.org/demo/2-5

You can see what our firmware looks like and it may help decide whether you want to install it. You can even search the demo for specific terms etc Smile

Please Note: Not all features will be available on all routers, there will be differences between router types: for example the wireless section will (obviously) be missing from non-wireless routers. The TNETW1350A (RoHS) firmware is also different in places.

RouterTech Firmware v2.5 Released
The RouterTech team are proud to announce the release of v2.5 of its firmware.

The new release is an important milestone as it adds brand new features, adds support for new routers and aligns two previous branches of our firmware meaning that now only one version exists for all supported types of router (although admittedly still with differing downloads).

Read release notes, changelog and download a copy of the firmware

As you can see a lot of changes have gone on and we hope you will find that they have made the firmware considerably better.

Huge thanks to the development team and all testers who helped out on this release. A lot of hard work has gone on in the last few weeks and they all deserve a pat on the back and a beer.

Welcome mstombs
On behalf of RouterTech I would like to welcome mstombs to the Support Team.

Since joining the site as a member he has provided a superb level of support to users, not to mention a great contribution to the development of some areas of our firmware.

It is a great pleasure to have him join one of our teams in an official capacity and we look forward to working with him in providing technical support for all things networking.

Outage
I would like to apologise on behalf of the RouterTech team for the server outage that occurred this morning at around 3am and resulted in the server being down for a number of hours and the RouterTech site not returning until early this afternoon.

The outage was caused by a serious power failure in the datacentre where our server resides. Failed air conditioining units in another area of the datacentre caused some servers in the vicinity to overheat and this caused circuit breakers to trip. This caused a knock on effect and blew a whole load of fuses and power supply units that supply our rack. Engineers were dispatched to the location to resolve the issue, but due to the extent of the power issues and the requirement to run a disk check after the power was pulled so suddenly, things took a while to restore.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
