Which Router for 1km range and 500 concurrent users

Post by andypptaylor » Tue Jan 10, 2017 5:31 pm

I am looking for the right piece of kit for a project I am working on. I need to setup a local Wi-Fi zone up to 1km omnidirectional that will handle 500 concurrent users who will be listening to mp3 music files. Quality should be very good and no drop outs. There is no need to let these users access the web only a local laptop that will contain the right mp3 files managed by a mobile app that will deliver the right file. Any advice would be much appreciated.

You don't want to use wifi for this - too much overhead with each device having its own half-duplex connection to the access point. Quite easy with an analogue radio broadcast - everyone listening to same signal - look up 'silent disco' for more info
