Upgrade firmware for Aztech DSL600ER

Post by valkyrie5034 » Thu Nov 08, 2007 4:54 am

EDIT : Nevermind, I was able to flash the RouterTech firmware. All's working except that loading the router configuration pages is very slow.

Good day, I'm having problem upgrading to RouterTech v2.3 firmware from the original Solwise v63.2.5. I downloaded the ar7rd-adam2-4ports single firmware and found 3 .img files inside, which one should I use?

I've tried the ATMEL as well the standard one but it's the same, the router became bricked after upgrading. Also tried upgrading from T1-Remote v2.1 but it crashed at the end of downloading. v2.3 hangs when erasing (the progress bar keeps moving but it goes on forever).

That is probably because of low RAM. You might want to try disabling the usb driver (howto is in the docs).

Thanks, I've disabled USB and now it's loading waaaay faster ^_^

Anything else I can disable to save memory? Since I do heavy P2P so every little bit of RAM is important, especially my router only has 8MB.

UPnP, SNTP, IPaccount and Multicast are disabled. Don't think I can disable any more features...

Well, I'm quite happy with RouterTech firmware right now. Well done and thanks to everyone who created this amazing piece of art.

I spoke too soon. After several hours, I can't enter the router configuration page, the status says it's sending request to 192.168.1.1 but that goes on forever. I can still surf Internet and p2p fine, but I have to restart the router or else I can never enter the configuration page.

It is a low RAM issue. Your p2p sessions are probably responsible. If you have disabled all those things, then I doubt there is any more than you can do.

I see. Then I'll just have to restart my modem when I want to make changes. Thanks for the help. ^^

You could try limiting the number of concurrent torrent connections.....

I tried leaving the router on for few hours without using p2p and it's the same thing. Also, my DS margin is quite low sometimes which causes disconnection. The problem is the automatic reconnect doesn't work all the time, connecting manually through router page doesn't help either. The only way is to restart the router.

Can you post the output of the "Router Diagnostics"? (remove all sensitive personal information and MAC addresses first).

Bad news, I was unable to login my router even after restart. It couldn't finish loading the login page to enter username & password. When I restarted it again, all LEDs were not light up, so I assumed it's bricked.

I used T1-Remote to flash Solwise v63.2.5 and now it's alive again. Looks like this model doesn't seem to be compatible with RouterTech firmware. I need my router for another few days, maybe I'll upgrade to RouterTech firmware after that.

P.S I don't know which other variables store sensitive info except for "maca". Could you help me remove them in the first post?

I wouldn't worry about USB MAC addresses - we all seem to have the same!

Do a google search for

HWA_RNDIS 00:E0:A6:66:41:EB

for example. MAC addresses are used to uniquely identify your device on a network, as the USB connection is 1-2-1 with your computer there is no risk of duplication.

It is very strange for a router to just be bricked like that. Did you do a factory reset after upgrading? Did you upgrade via a single image or via separate images? And I hope you did not stay with the ATMEL flash version.
