DSL-320T PPPoE not working

Post by exploit » Sun Aug 12, 2007 8:38 am

Hello everyone,

I have problems with PPOE connection, DSL Status is connected, DSL modulation type is ADSL.GDMT, VPI:8, VCI:35, and my username, password is correct, but on Connection status, State: Not connected :(.

Current firmware is: RouterTech v2.3

Exept Routertech firmware I tried:

Code: Select all

DSL-320T Mcmcc 1.1.00.ZA 21.03.2007 DSP 7.0 (rev. 29.06.2007)
DSL-320T McMcc 1.1.00.ZA 24.04.2007 DSP 7.0 (rev. 27.07.2007)
DSL-320T McMcc 1.1.00.ZA 24.04.2007 DSP 7.0 (rev. 29.07.2007) fix x flash Samsung

DSL-320T RoterTech 2.20 Lite DSP 6.2 (rev. 08.07.2007)
DSL-320T RoterTech 2.20 Lite DSP 7.2 (rev. 08.07.2007)

DSL-320T RoterTech 2.30 Lite DSP 6.2 (rev. 08.07.2007)
DSL-320T RoterTech 2.30 Lite DSP 7.2 (rev. 08.07.2007)

DSL320_-_Acorp_1.0.17.RU.26122006_AnnexA_-_Jack_Mod_-_Signed
And on all of them I got this System log:

Code: Select all

Sep 16 12:00:08 | Valid Configuration Tree
Sep 16 12:00:08 | NTP Polling Timer for DHCP Started succesfully.
Sep 16 12:00:08 | DSL Polling Timer Started succesfully.

Sep 16 12:00:28 | DSL Carrier is up
Sep 16 12:00:29 | sar read trained mode (1)(ADSL_G.dmt)
Sep 16 12:00:30 | ---}}} Start of connection delayed for 27 sec
Sep 16 12:00:57 | PPPoE Launch after conn delay timeout ...
Sep 16 12:00:58 | pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0
And PPOA is not working on my ISP..

Original firmware from DLink 3.10 is working and also I have DLink DSL-300T with firmware from JackTheVendicator (1.5 highreliability) and PPOE is working.

I tried so many firmwares, reset to factory values everytime, and even I uploaded a real "empty" MTD3, how bovirus1963 explained to me on noxirc, but nothing again :(

You can tell from the log dates - that log is not from current official RT2.3!

Are you sure 8,35 is correct for your ISP? Also make sure LLC/VC-MUX and authorization CHAP/PAP is correct, and start with modulation mmode.

Hello again, and tnx for fast reply. 8,35 is correct for my ISP, and PPOA is not working on my ISP so I can't set LLC and VC--MUX (only PPOA?). I tried with modulation multimode but nothing again.

And yes its official RT2.3 firmware now....

Who is your ISP (8,35 is in Italy!)?!?
I had your same problem with Alice Telecom when I subscribed it.
It is a ISP problem that they HAVE to solve!

Its in Bosnia, but why then DSL-300T with firmware from JackTheVendicator (1.5 highreliability) is working?

What is the output of these commands (from the Dlink and JackTheVendicator firmwares)?

Code: Select all

cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_ver
cat /proc/modules

Both Dlink and JackTheVendicator have the same DSP and ATM drivers (7.00.x). That would seem to be the key - perhaps Dlink-specific versions of those drivers are being used.

You only have that option with wireless routers and non-wireless routers with 4mb flash.

I think thats not problem. I found firmware which uses 7.0.x drivers:

DSL-320T_McMcc_1_1_00_RU_20070424_20070727_DSP70_ZA

Code: Select all

*********************************************************
*           ADSL ROUTER D-LINK DSL-320T                 *
*********************************************************

BusyBox v0.61.pre (2007.06.19-18:02+0000) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

# cat /proc/avalanche/avsar_ver
ATM Driver version:[7.00.01.00]
DSL HAL version: [7.00.01.00]
DSP Datapump version: [7.00.04.00] Annex A
SAR HAL version: [01.07.2c]
PDSP Firmware version:[0.54]
Chipset ID: [Ohio250(7200/7100A2)]
# cat /proc/modules
rshaper 7808 0 (unused)
tiatm 134600 1
#
And again PPOE is not working :(

It seems that pppoe is always LLC encapsulation so you don't get a choice of VC-MUX, but I think PAP/CHAP still applies, suggest you try either/both rather than auto.

Also I wonder if the default 'keep alive'/'connect on demand' is the same it seems your DSL connects but not the PPPOE have you tried toggling all and reconnecting?

I tried both PAP/CHAP and auto, and nothing.

But if I set it "on demand" I got following results on system log:

Code: Select all

Description Type IP State Online Disconnect Reason
ConnectionADSL pppoe N/A Not Connected 0 Can Not Reach PPP Server

If that is not the problem, then the only things I can think of are:
1. some different settings in config.xml, or
2. some different kernel settings

The second is impossible to investigate. The first can be investigated by comparing all the different /etc/config.xml files.

What are the "Gateway" versions in the Dlink and JackTheVendicator firmwares? You can find this in the Status->Product information menu.

If you google for those local IP addresses you see they are quite common 'linux defaults'. One extra suggestion is the modem MAC address may be being restricted by your ISP - but I don't know why D-Link firmware would behave differently. The MAC address used by Routertech and similar firmware is given by the env variable HWA_3 I believe.
