Re: Need help to Flashing my CNET CAR-854 Router

Can you post the output of the RUC, It is likely you are trying to load the wrong incompatible firmware.

Re: Which gigabit AC router?

I wouldn't touch the "Asus AC87U" - seen too many problems on forums in part due to odd "Quantenna chipset" - an experiment Asus seems to have moved on from.

1000/200 is going to be a challenge for any domestic device, suggest you look at small business/commercial solutions.

Re: 604t bricked! help plz!

I am not aware of any such routers that have a dhcp client installed, but of course many modern devices do. Dlink did have habit of keeping the same model No and changing the internals (to keep good reviews on internet purchase sites?) so still possible wrong switch (and wifi) drivers. Reset button ...

Re: Hotspot Gateway with Captive Portal

You are correct to ask (but a bit quiet around here) - many places just use domestic routers and just give out the wifi password - this can be a security issue for you or your customers, and can be against Ts and Cs of your broadband connection, you may be responsible for what users do using your co...

Re: 604t bricked! help plz!

192.168.0.1 is possible. Make sure you set a static IP on your PC in correct range for each IP you try. As it seems to boot and connect to ADSL can't be the bootloader. What firmware did you load? Its possible it had the wrong switch drivers - but you should be able to recover through bootloader too...

Re: 604t bricked! help plz!

LAN switch errors on such routers are not uncommon - sometimes due to bad capacitors, see for example https://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3818 Do you get any connection from any of the lan ports? Sometimes forcing your PC to 10Mbps, or using an old 10Mbps hub between PC and router works ...

Re: Router for 500mbps speeds? + Is a used router safe? + 3G

I do like Asus, personally would avoid the 87 as it seems an oddball with Quantenna chipset, seen quite a few problem reports. Not all models can be wall mounted so watch out for that if needed, 3g support is there, but patchy. You should have a concern about second hand re security - if you factory...

Re: Asus rt ac3200 router

There is a 3rd party extension of the Asuswrt firmware, maybe you could ask over on the support forums if that might help https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/

I would have thought that such router based tools would not be effective as everything moves to https?

Re: Which Router for 1km range and 500 concurrent users

You don't want to use wifi for this - too much overhead with each device having its own half-duplex connection to the access point. Quite easy with an analogue radio broadcast - everyone listening to same signal - look up 'silent disco' for more info

Re: How can I Block some website through my router?

If you have to ask, your kids may be may be able to get around anything you try to put in place using VPNs, dnssec, proxies, mobile phones etc - so do talk to them - don't just rely on technology! DNS poisoning is the simplest method, do look at OpenDNS and configure your own router to use that by d...

Connection speed and short term speedtest not everything, sometimes better to connect with more margin, and have fewer disconnects.

Re: Help with setting up half-bridge mode on EE Osprey

Well done!
Are you obscuring real IP addresses? Because 10.x.x.x are still non internet routable local IP addresses, so you will still be in double nat situation - or is that just better than triple nat?

Wow, blast from the past, I am still here but haven't touched it for years. It used to work for on an adsl router with pppoa connection which appeared in Linux as ppp0. I know nothing about the mifi - I guess its just a mobile internet router?

Re: PSP bootloader source code

Got to question why? That Linksys bootloader probably 12 years old, and you want to use it for a newer Netgear? The newest bootloader sources I have seen were in Acorp GPL, even binary compatible with some Netgear referenced here:- http://dliapp.wizhut.com/blog/?p=84 Which links back to the file sti...

Re: Unable to cast since upgrade to hub 3.0

I suggest you post for help on https://community.virginmedia.com/ I only use the SH3 in modem mode with a separate router - in 'router mode' you cannot even change the SH3 LAN IP address, some users have trial firmware which apparently fixes a number of bugs in the usual version, there may be workar...
