So far impressions good, not using as default as the book marks aren't managed very well. The home page with most accessed links with an image of the page is neat, and it is way faster than ff3 even with prefetch turned off. It also renders pages the way ff2 did, my web cam page has an embedded web ...

By the way it is not possible to convert a broadband router that doesn't have an internal modem into an ADSL router using just a cable no matter what links you find with pictures. It sounds like you are trying to connect to a standard ADSL type broadband connection which this router won't be capable...

If and it is a big if, the router needed to connect to an RJ11 then the cable could just have an RJ11 on both ends. RJ45 is designed to accept an RJ11 plug. Ethernet wiring is designed such that the centre pair (blue blue/white) are available for a phone connection. It is conceivable that a router c...

I am suprised that the firmware in the D-Link is able to do it, but it clearly does and the settings you have used make sense. As you have found for the route between the D-Link and Speedtouch to be valid they both need to be in the same subnet. Effectively the D-Link is looping WAN data back onto t...

For about two weeks the Max will be training, the speed will gradually drop until you get a stable connection. The BT system does this automatically. Best bet is to leave it alone, you just need to live with it and it will sort itself out. My line started up around 6000kbps and has settled around 35...

Jim wake up and read the post ! Upstream of 604 looks very wrong for a MAX service standard ADSL would be 288 and a MAX service would be 448. What do you have the modem modulation set to, if set to 'multi_mode' then would try it set to 'ADSL_G.dmt' Do you know what speeds etc you get with th...

Port 8000 is sometimes used for remote management of routers, maybe your router reserves this port for such. I would suggest trying s diffrerent port, say 88 or 8080 Also the source IP address may be wrong, if you have a fixed IP address then I would try that instead of the 192.168.x.x address. Also...

As mentioned by Biro via PM - it's worth pointing out that using the wireless router as an access point will still only allow you to have one PC connected to the Internet at any one time since you will not have any NAT functionality from the router as you are effectively just using it as a "wireles...

Ah yes 5.1 usually don't use it to avoid an ASBO :) I think half the problem is that it is designed for the cinema experience rather than a front room. Speech for instance will mainly come from front speakers (or rear if person is behind you). An explosion for instance will be all round so all speak...
