I see...

Thank you for the tips mstombs. My findings are as follows for a GURU GART2-4112. The CPUFREQ env. variable is set at 150000000 but when I telnet in the unit and input your commands and check the kernel msg log, I get the following: <4>dsp_freq = 250000000 <4>phy_feature_0=0x0e002001, phy_cntl_mask_...

Interesting...
I messed with the environment value of CPUFREQ but it's as if it's read only.
Not to worry though - I prefer a reliable buzzless router! 8)

Hmmmm...

Did I spot the words overclock 200mhz?
Does it improve anything?
Can it be done simply on the routertech firmware?

Answer to anyone else that might get burnt!

Ok, found it.
The answer lies in PCTOOLS.
Just run it and go to the upload button.
Get the enviroment values and delete the pesky line.
Hit done and reboot the not-nice router!

PHEW!

Any ideas on getting rid of this pesky chksync.sh?

Well, I'm running out of ideas if anyone can come up with any better. Hard reset will not work, simply because by the 10 seconds, the router has already rebooted at least once! Using PCTOOLS to restore factory firmware (safecom GART2-2112), works and after restoring factory defaults, looks like a fu...

HArd Reset didn't work

Unfortunately, the hard rest didn't work.
I am in the process of reflashing firmwares...
It was that bad, that I had to revert to the safecom one and then back to the routertech...

What a kerfuffle !

Has anyone tried the chksync.sh script?

Hey guys, I thought it would be a good idea to have the router reset itself if it detected a loss of sync, so I run the command ' setenv chksync.sh "1" ', saved and rebooted. Fat chance of ever connecting again! It boots, sees there is no sync and reboots and then reboots some more, etc.- catch 22. ...

Well, I am not a big user, the contrary. I had registered once, in May 2006, but I deleted my membership within 2 days. The problem is that as with first life, unless you have some real $$$, the user experience is really poor. You need a premium account at least to make it through. Interestingly the...

Guys! This is the bee's knees! Fixes the problems I used to have with 2.2, especially with DDNS and does a heck lot more! ether-wake is the icing and rshaper is the cherry on top. Absolutely brilliant work. It's the most versatile router firmware I have ever seen, excluding a full blown linux PC. TH...

I've had the same trouble on this end with DDNS and dyndns not working, when configured from the web interface. The tip for the telnet commands for DDNS was excellent and I have added it successfully to the autoexec.sh . However, I am worried that if my ISP changes the router's IP address (say in 2 ...

Re: Hakin9 magazine survey

Router: Safecom GART2-4112 1) Why have you / your company chosen this router? Cheap price, reliability and open-source firmware alternatives. I preferred a wired router because of the added security. I also wanted it to have only 1 port, because I have a separate 8-port switch. 2) Have you used any ...

eMuNiX, regarding point 1 you nailed it on the head!

A. Router boots noticeably faster.
B. DNS problem on power-cycling, requiring manual reboot disappeared.

I can live with re-addressing my LAN, but it's something to note for the firmware developers.

Thank you!

Possible issues?

Guys - First post here - so please accept my apologies. If anyone can replicate these on the routertech v2.2 firmware as used on a Safecom GART2-4112. 1. DNS - I have enabled the option that says DNS proxy (under DNS configuration). If I power off the unit and then turn it on, it seems that the DNS ...
