Re: Wireless rate limiting on RT AR7WRD v2.97 Netgear (DG834
Thank you for the pointers, thechief, but unfortunately rshaper and netshaper won't help me. My problem isn't to do with limiting wireless throughput, it's actually to do with transmission rate selection. Basically, due to the distances of some of my clients, I get a high packet loss rate at higher ...

Wireless rate limiting on RT AR7WRD v2.97 Netgear (DG834Gv2)
Hi everyone. I'm using RT AR7WRD v2.97 on my Netgear DG834G v2, and I'd like to rate limit the wireless connection speed to anything less than 54Mbps. I've tried changing the parameters in "Wireless/Hairy Configuration" but the status page ("Wireless/Managament/Associated Stations") always shows 54M...

Re: Router Repair Tool
First of all, whatever you do, you will have a brick until you fix the BOOTCFG variable. You need to run something like this setenv BOOTCFG m:f:"mtd1" Note the double quotation marks. They must be there, else the router will not boot. All done, and now I have a working Netgear DG834G v2 router with...

Re: Router Repair Tool
IIRC, the DG834G has a non-standard Adam2 bootloader. If so, then, until that small matter is sorted out, you will not make much progress. Hi! It did have an adam2 bootloader until I flashed it by following your post here: https://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3296 The change of bootloader...

Re: Router Repair Tool
Hi all. I have three DG834G (v2) routers in various states, one bricked and 2 working OK. I'm trying to run the RRT against the bricked router and I get the following error messages/log output when I try to connect to the router: 00:00:000 Running script 00:00:001 Opening connection: 192.168.1.1, 21...

Does autoexec.sh support shell redirection?
I've used the following command to test out autoexec'ing: setenv autoexec.sh "/bin/echo someString > /var/tmp/hostsNew" but when I "Save All" and "Reboot", /var/tmp/hostsNew doesn't exist. I assume that this is due my use of the redirection operator. Does anyone know how to use output redirection (t...

Re: Can dnsmasq(dproxy?) resolve static-lan-reserved names?
static_hosts is auto-generated from the dhcp file - lanclients get reserved with7 day leases I recall - so even if the IP addresses are reserved in the web gui - they don't get entered if not active - I think we need a patch in a future version to get around that! Ok, I think this means that I won'...

Re: Can dnsmasq(dproxy?) resolve static-lan-reserved names?
I've tried editing /var/tmp/static_hosts but after a "Save All" and a "Restart" (from the "System" tab on the web gui) the file justs reverts to its previous contents. What's the simplest way for me to write this so that it persists across reboots?
Thank you, Jaime

Re: Can dnsmasq(dproxy?) resolve static-lan-reserved names?
What exactly are you trying to do? Some of the machines on my LAN have static reservations, and my LAN has the usual nat'ted connection to the Internet. I'd like to be able to connect to these "static" machines by using their names rather than just their ip-addresses. At the moment, dnsmasq on the ...

Can dnsmasq(dproxy?) resolve static-lan-reserved names?
Hi all. Thank you to all the RT devs and support staff - I have successfully flashed RT 2.95 onto my DG834G v2 and it works wonderfully. Could anyone please let me know know whether it is possible to get the built-in DNS proxy (dnsmasq/dproxy?) to resolve the names of my local LAN machines which I h...
