On the download page -RouterTech Firmware v2.93 Release (20100408)- it says: The links to our firmware require you to be registered and logged into the site to see and use them. I found your post concerning the release of 2.93, and have downloaded Router Upgrade Check and PCTool. I attempted to use Router Upgrade Checker. It asks for 'telnet' username and password. It has the word 'root' in the username box. I have tried the login details for my router page and my internet ...

Hi, Is it safe for a novice to upgrade the firmware? The FAQ mentions Router Upgrade Checker- do I need to run it first? It lists both Repair Router Tool and PCTool for upgrading firmware. Which one should I use? I have to download everything I need while I am connected to the internet via the modem...

Re: ISP 'upgrade' must reconfigure router

It worked for a day. The next day I couldn't get an internet connection. When I disconnected my router and reinstalled the Speed Touch 330 modem I was able to get a stable connection. Having reconfigured my router to the settings which, as you have said are the standard UK settings, can I assume tha...

Re: ISP 'upgrade' must reconfigure router

Apologies for not doing my homework! So busy switching between the router and the modem to get on the internet I forgot lots of things I should have done first. Like reading the FAQ. The router has and internet connection and I hope it remains stable. Thank you again for your patience and expert hel...

Re: ISP 'upgrade' must reconfigure router

Sorry for the question. I have found the instructions for the router. From that I gather it is the original login for the internet connection provided by my ISP that is required?. I did try that one and it was rejected too. Because I might have made a mistake I tried to load the router login page ag...

Re: ISP 'upgrade' must reconfigure router

I rebooted, reset to defaults but was then disconnected from the router page. I must have done something wrong or in the the wrong order. When I tried to log in again it would not accept my username and password. (Bad username/ or password.

How can I get back in?

Re: ISP 'upgrade' must reconfigure router

Thank you for your reply. After a week of trying I finally got hold of someone in their technical support office who was able to, or was willing to explain. They said the settings I had to make were- Setup/ Encapsulation pppoa or vcmux vpi - 0 vci - 38 multiplexing -vcbased connection - 'always on' ...

Hi, Just over a week ago my ISP (Pipex) installed new equipment at my telephone exchange (York). Since then my internet connection has been mostly nonexistent. Thank you both for your replies. Yes, I did a full reset to default settings when I installed the new firmware. And followed all the advice from yourselves. I am embarrassed to admit that I didn't switch off the router, wait and start again. Because I had done the update of firmware and it had been ...
