Oops, I missed that link on the post page. Looking further, BBCode is missing from the Site Map as is “Submit an Article” (which only seems to be accessible from links within threads). Also the Knowledge Base seems rather hidden, again only accessible from links within threads. I am sure that if it ...

Unable to Learn about BBCode
I needed to understand BBCode and was unable to find a guide (on RouterTech). I resolved it by Googling "site:routertech.org bbcode".
So it looks like the guide article is orphaned.
Can someone who has the editing rights put a link in on the BBCode part of the FAQ page?

If there was a user guide in the form of a wiki (allowing anyone to add/edit), I am sure volunteers would more readily contribute. Several times, I have thought about writing an article appropriate to a user guide but never got round to it. How much easier it would have been just to add to create a ...

Biro, Mine’s working too, thanks. As I half expected, I had to remove all the IP addresses from the Access Control page.biro wrote:Another way ( for ANY WAN IP) can be found here.

I want to connect to my router using SSH. Instead of changing ... > remote_mgmt > wan > remote_telnet > state from 0 to 1, change ... > remote_mgmt > wan > remote_ssh > state That should work. There is one limitation that I have found. Once you enable the feature, you must provide IP addresses for ...

Thanks, Shotokan101, for that link. It did explain how to use the 'Use DNS Proxy' setting. I have had a further play and am now convinced that the feature does not work in my version of the firmware. After the ‘Save All’, I was able to see the manually set IP addresses in config.bin (obtained using ...

DNS Configuration Changes Do Not Work
I recently needed to change my 'DNS Configuration' from the automatic ISP-provided settings to manual ones. While the IP addresses appeared to save (they were still there after selecting 'Apply', then 'Save All'), they were ineffective (see below) and reverted to the old values following a 'Restart'...

I have now found a work around to this fault (for the RouterTech firmware) as follows: - Obtain the current router configuration as a file - Convert the resulting .bin file to an .xml file using cfgconv.exe - In the first instance of CategoryH, change the settings as required - Convert the resulting...

I have now succeeded in sending config.bin to the router. I understand what I am doing wrong and feel a bit embarrassed. On the alternate ‘Update Gateway’ page, there is an extra ‘Restart Gateway’ button that I should have been using. I had seen the text at the bottom and wanted to go to the System ...

FWIW - A System Restart is not the same as a factory reset/reset to defaults as required during a f/w upgrade..... :? Yes, I know. I did a System > 'Restore Defaults' after upgrading the firmware at the beginning of my testing described above. I believe thechief was referring to a System > 'Restart...

thechief: Yes, you are right that backing up immediately after a Restore Defaults is a harsh test. No one would do this in normal use. I mentioned it as another of bringing up the rogue page – see ‘Config-bin will not send.gif’ and ‘Failed Backup Configuration Page.gif’ - both are very similar. It m...

I have now managed to get back to this and give it a thorough testing - the full test details are below. Here is a summary. Additional to my first post, a ‘Restore Defaults’ followed by ‘Backup Configuration’ fails giving the alternate ‘Update Gateway’ page. But if ‘Restore Defaults’ is followed by ...
