Re: Cannot send emails wellwith 2 or more connections to rou

FWIW I don't think the HomePlugs would be the issue. They don't operate at the IP layer, and don't hand out any info. They act as an ethernet bridge. You can talk to them using the software that may have been supplied with them (or there is a Linux version "plconfig" I think). This uses a different ...

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.93 Discussion

I was speaking about memchk.sh
As I scrolled down the screen I saw someone mention chksync higher up, and I thought it wasn't working on the upgrade to 2.93 at first, as it too no longer appeared in the log. Never noticed the text had changed to memchk! Sorry

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.93 Discussion

how to see if it is working now? Well, as a sanity check you could confirm it made it into the cron table by typing crontab -l (that's lowercase letter L, as in "list") at the routers command prompt (or from the web interface|Tools|Run Command) and you'll see a line like: */20 */1 * * * /usr/local/...

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

FWIW, I've noticed an update to the company VPN client and installed the new one. It now uses IPsec over UDP on port 4500 (like my other VPN) so it now works fine on wireless (or wired) with RT. There are no release notes or any explanation (again, everything is locked down and minimal), but perhaps...

Re: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

mstombs, You didn't have to look far for that  I never thought of looking on the RouterTech forums! I was wondering about Mint next time too. I think I'll wait for the flak to die down first, apparently many people are upset by it so Ubuntu may see sense. Or perhaps I'll just go back to Debian...

Re: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

I've just upgraded my 9.10 box to 10.04 using the Update Manager GUI as usual. It went okay, but I've found a couple of things that bug me. Firstly, they've moved the minimise/maximise/close buttons to the left of the window title bar. To put it mildly it's as irritating as when supermarkets decide ...

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

I can't try that client on another PC as I'm not sure exactly what it is (it's GUI is really locked down, just mentioning the company), what hosts it connects to, and what certificates it might use (again, the GUI gives nothing away). I suspect that underneath it's perhaps a MS PPTP client as googli...

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

thechief, I've just tried that test firmware you kindly provided but it made no difference :(

I had a feeling it might not, as no special GRE handling is required when using wired, but it was good to prove the point. I'm a bit stumped now.

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

If you are feeling brave and don't mind doing some beta testing, we can build a beta with everything GRE-ish turned on, and seeing whether that makes a difference A tiny part of me thinks that this isn't a massive issue 1) for me, as I never even used VPN over wireless until this thread and 2) for ...

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

Unfortunately I'm not authorised to try different client software. I tried that module, but it made no difference to wireless VPN behaviour, in fact I don't think it was used: /var # lsmod ip_gre 9456 c0123060 96 0 (unused) tiap 900848 c0046060 96 1 tiatm 135360 c0023060 96 1 I just find it irritati...

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

I wasn't starting any myths, I just saw a post where someone said a VPN didn't work for them over wireless and was curious what happens in my case. I then just shared my experience in the spirit of these forums so hopefully any problem can be fixed! I have two laptops for two different companies - o...

I've just tried using wireless with a security setting of none - same thing, VPN over wireless fails.

Re: Wired vpn to work is fine, but wireless is not?!

The_Idler - I always connect to my work VPN using a wired connection, but have just tested it over wireless (SAR600EW RT2.93 WPA2) and get the same result as you - it doesn't work over wireless. The VPN client log shows this when using wireless: The VPN connection between your computer and the VPN s...

Re: RouterTech Firmware 2.93 Discussion

RT Team, Thanks for this latest release, not only have you fixed the problem with "ver" when not using encaps0, it has even more detail in it! I can understand rationalising the dsp drivers to a low and high version, but was curious why for 1350A modems the high version is dsp71A instead of the dsp7...

Re: ETECH / PTI 845g works 100%

Assuming OS X uses openSSH like many *nix, as well as specifying a SSH keepalive from the command line, as mentioned, like: ssh -o ServerAliveInterval=99 root@192.168.1.1 or ssh -o "ServerAliveInterval 99" root@192.168.1.1 you can also set it as the default in your ~/.ssh/config file, for example a ...
