Re: web server and user pages

OK will look into this. But I put routertech on my router quite a while ago and it has run very well ever since. Very occasionally it needs a reboot. So I might just leave well alone. I can run a simple monitor using a telnet or ssh session. It's a simple one liner thus . while true; do ifconfig -a ...

web server and user pages

Is it possible to serve user pages. I see /usr/www is read only. And whilst tmp is writable it is obviously tmp and disappears on reboot. I want a cgi web page that executes a simple shell script. The script greps the ifconfig and displays the RX/TX bytes per LAN port. I can mange the web/cgi stuff....

So the new router would have 4 hardwired ports that I could use in a remote room and some how get th...

Yes that's sorted it. I disabled the DHCP on the virtual nets. And configure my vitual Linux server to use 192.168.1.1 ( the routertech router) for DHCP. Rebooted and it's come up on 192.168.1.xxx as required. I don't fully understand the Vmware virtual nets. But have solve my problem. Thanks for th...

I think it's associated with Vmware. I have a couple of Vmware virtual linux servers on my Vista PC. I note that Vmware creates some virtual networks and starts DHCP servers on them ( not on the linux servers actually in Vmware ). Not sure how it all works yet but will let you know what happens. One...

No it's a hardwired port. Also I have wireless security and a "non standard" SSID setup. Most other servers are switched off apart from a wireless webcam. Must try with that off tonight. However it's (see note below for word to use here ) Vista that always seems to get the wrong IP. I seem to rememb...

Thanks I have an old Compaq which is very quite and runs Linux. It also goes in to power down and can be woken up with a magic packet. However it's too big and has a harddrive, Fan etc. A small router style server would be ideal. Needs to be Small size 12v powerd ( via mains adaptor ) Cheap No hard ...

OK thanks I don't really want a router, basically a small wireless linux server with a USB and some digital IO. So in a nearby outbuilding ( within range ) I can control some relays and perhaps get some webcam pics. I was looking at openwrt which looked promising. Some of the routers they support se...

SWART2-54125 and USB usage

I have a Safecom SWART2-54125 which was bricked by Safecoms upgrade. I was "rescued" by Routertech and have used the V2.5 for some time now, it has work perfectly. Occationally I have to reboot say ever two months but that's not a problem. My router has a USB connection. What can this be used for? C...

No Unfortunatly RouterTech rescued me from the SafeCom forums. I had already applied their recommended "upgrade" and bricked my router. Routertech saved the day but all original settings were gone. It's more of a small annoyance and not a problem. I there anyway I could extract it from the Safecom f...
