Re: Netgear WG902-4SKUKS
So little information out there about it. What I think it is, it is essentially just a means of adding wireless connection to something like the Sky box or an Xbox360, I don't think it can be used as anything other than a Wifi adaptor. A widdle black box that connects to ethernet and simply picks up...

Re: Netgear WG902-4SKUKS
The Sky device was free, just came through the post and, other than sticking it on eBay, wondered if I can do anything else with it. At present it is just a useless lump sitting in it's box.

Netgear WG902-4SKUKS
These are supplied by Sky to connect to your Sky+ box for wireless connectivity. I can find no other information about them on the Netgear site and was really wondering if they can be used on any other equipment. Knowing that the Netgear router firmware is severely hobbled with many features missing...

Re: DNS server
Give the Xbox a fixed IP address and put it in the DMZ in the router, does that make a difference?

Re: Phone and microfilters
It was the modem cable, found another in one of my many router boxes. Wish I'd have thought of it sooner.

Phone and microfilters
Having some issues with the phone. With the phone plugged directly into the test socket it works fine. Add in a microfilter and the phone stops working after a couple of minutes but the ADSL works fine. Tried 2 older Alcatel badged microfilters and 2 new ones that I have with my Sky broadband and al...

Re: Connection problems with BT and non BT router
I don't know about the American ISP list but you should be able to setup the router for any ISP. Generally in the UK we use vpi=0 and vci=38, also PPPoA vcmux encapsulation is normal but not in all cases. Also you indicate that the phone won't work with the router on, replace you filters one of them...

Re: Please Rescue My Router
First check all of the cables are good (not broken) and plugged in, maybe swap cables around. If that fails from a command prompt ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns followed by ipconfig /renew, does that give you an IP address from the router? If you manually assign an IP address of 192.168.1.2 s...

Re: Trying to get latest firmware to connect to O2
VPI and VCI is probably the problem, the default for the UK is VPI=0 and VCI=38 and the router will probably be set to this, yours should be 0, 101 these numbers must be set correctly or there will be no connection made.

Re: Ubuntu 9.10 now 10.04
Well its nearly time for bitching about Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx The first one is how to put the Window control buttons back into their normal place... gconftool-2 --set /apps/metacity/general/button_layout --type string "menu:minimize, maximize, close" 10.04 LTS beta 1 released, I might jus...

So can you update to V2 firmware and then try the RUC and upgrade to our firmware?

Re: Router freezing ADSL2+
Been running my SAR600EW (RoHS) with latest firmware on ADSL2+, never seen it lock-up on any of our firmware. Occasionally the connection resets, but I think that is Sky playing about to optimise the connection remotely (seems it reset itself 6 hours ago and my upstream has gone up DSL Speed: 1119/1...

Re: Best Settings for wireless
I agree with TheCheif your aggression stops us from having a reasoned debate about your problems. What I shall say is that not all wireless devices are equal and sometimes some are too rubbish to connect, I suspect this with your PS3. My wife's laptop has problems but my daughter's doesn't. Personal...

Re: Netgear dg834gt
Does it disconnect when something electrical comes on such as central heating pump, street lighting, christmas lights? These sorts of things can give off interference that can knock the connection for six. One year my wife plugged in a rope light and wham the connection was gone, unplugged it and it...

Re: Ubuntu 9.10
Using Kubuntu 9.10 with no problems at all, apart from the fact I can't get the gnome-desktop-environment to install because of dependency problems that have no installation candidates. Something is wrong with the Gnome implementation for sure. KDE 4.3.3 is rather nice though
