I'm sure I tried Ubuntu Server before, I could never get it past the initial shell login. Couldn't find out how to get the server configured or running, or even access from WinSCP, Putty or web interface. Shall have to have another go. I've just stuck to ClarkConnect 3.2 (4.0 turned out to be comple...

Most important thing I'm concerned about is if the attacker could of found out what my passwords are from the server. It is possible to reveal passwords from linux? I suppose I would have to worry about packet sniffers as well ... All depends on how keen they were on learning something. I also found...

Yeah, my sigs are hosted on my server which has just had its connection cut. I know exactly how they got in and you are very correct; it was from this site! Reading through the 'Uptime Displays' thread, they were able to locate and access my server using a non-obscured username and password and were...

Thanks for your tips guys. After reading through the relevant texts and readmes I have decided to shut the server down until I get home tonight. I think a complete full network overhaul is in order. Password changes, IP range change, security changes etc. I have no idea what they did, looked at, tri...

Not much help, but amusing story about rootkits I came across recently dickm is the author of smoothwall etc.. http://blog.dickmorrell.org/?p=437 bet you wish you could do the same to your attacker! That is very funny! Sweet sweet revenge. Although I will say one thing about this, by the end of it,...

AVG antirootkit is what I used to resurrect a friends PC. Ahh, thanks eMu; I should of been a little clearer. My server is linux based. As I am still getting to grips with the way it works, I'm completely in the dark to what to look for and check for possible damage or comprimise. Thank you anyway.

Hey beneyre, If you wanna find out if any ports are blocked, you could use www.grc.com and goto ShieldsUp. That will perform a port scan for you. The TA612V is a very temperamental piece of kit. It can take a while to download the firmware, or it can happen instantly. It took me about a week to set ...

Not sure I', still up to speed with your growing network SE!. From what I recall The modem is the Routertech firmware router running No-Nat, and this device has one of your usable range of 6 static IP addresses? The Masquerade rule turns on NAT for just your wireless PC address range. Thats correct...

Moving on from the masquerade rule for the wireless interface, is it possible to have a masquerade rule which only respects a single public static IP address, and allows all other static IPs to act as normal? The best way I can explain my question is; having multiple computers running through one pu...

There was this flight that was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who put everyone in a good mood as he served everybody food and drinks. So as the plane started to descend he came prancing down the aisle and told everyone that Captain Marvey had asked him to announce that he’ll be l...

Well It seems that problem is solved; I went around the whole server and made sure all Gallery2 installs where complete and setup properly, and I have not had a single fine in the /tmp directory.

I would seem that that was the problem. incomplete setups of Gallery2!!

[Solved] /tmp directory being filled up with random files

I have just recently upgraded my server hardware, and reinstalled CC3.2 onto it, copied most of the old files over and reinstalled all my applications. etc etc... I am getting weird random files filling up the /tmp directory. 0.inc***** (random characters) and GalleryFetch / GalleryPlugin files... T...
