Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
The short answer is that, if it was that easy, we would have done it long ago. The fact that we haven't done it should speak for itself. As I have said, we are very familiar with those sources (and many other GPL source releases). Surely I didn't mean to underestimate your work and efforts, just wa...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Well, one thing I can assure you of is that you cannot have separate VLANs. The switch is not supported to that extent. Mmhm.. Interesting. But that could be done with the IP175A in RT firmware, yes? Although I'm still a bit clueless at this point, but... I was looking around in the GPL tarball I m...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
No, I'm simply saying that we have had one person who thinks that using Qos (particularly PRIOWRR) on the 2640T may have fried his switch. Since we (and even him in the end) can neither confirm nor deny it, safety is the best policy. Good to know. thanks! 2. If you are as serious about the above as...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
TheChief, 1. I am not sure I understand what you mean by "Don't use QoS, it will fry the switch".. The G624T has the same Infinion ADM6996M chip, with QoS in the stock firmware, and used with QoS in openwrt . Are you saying that due to lack of native support for that switch chip (vs. the Marvell for...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Then it's better to backup your fw and perhaps upload to some public server! Yes, I was thinking of that earlier, but not exactly sure how to go about doing it. Do I need JTAG for that task? (I have spare old parallel printer cable, and I'm sure I can scrap four 100ohm resistors from a old PSU PCB)...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Aha, a little more info: 1. About D-Link's notice that WDS was removed (from Malaysian forum): Anyone got WDS working for this model? It was initially there in 2006 firmware but no longer available after the firmware upgrade since 2007. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1110470&view=findpo...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Ahahah! D-Link's world is very crazy! Hehe. yes.. I'm in Egypt, and have noticed that the 2640 U being sold here now are H.W. Ver.: BRU/C (which were originally targeted for Russia - RU) :P Sadly I couldn't seem to find any used (or even new) 2650U's (which have 8mb flash + 2 usb ports), but still ...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Yes, we know all about that one. It wasn't of much use (indeed, I haven't seen any of their GPL code releases that has been of any use). This one is from way back in 2006. Well, I kind of know what you mean... Having spent quite a bit of time in past few weeks following closely some dev threads her...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
The hardware version is very important when you choose a D-Link firmware to upgrade! On the bottom on your device you can read it: "H/W Ver.". For example if you have an "A1" version you have to search an "A" or "A1" firmware. Yep, I'm aware of that. Please notice I did mention: Back of the DSL Rou...

Re: DLink DSL-2640t bricked and recovered...
I know this is a bit old, but just wondering what version of the DSL-2640T this discussion goes on about? There are several versions it seems, most popular two seem to be EU-A and ME-A (there's also an EU-C and some others). Please see my post in MHAQS' thread: https://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.p...

Re: DSL-2640T updated like a charm
Unfortunately so - unless the manufacturer releases the GPL sources used to compile the firmware for your router. You might want to chase them up on it. I just recently bought a used (but in very good condition) DSL-2640T, which is running the original firmware that it came with, which is VERY bugg...
