Re: Asus RT N66U weird disconnects
How strange only yesterday I started getting repeatable disconnects from one of these routers, but only when connected via wireless N 5GHz with 40MHz width - intitial connect from Window/intel laptop at 450Mbps and when speedtesting at over 100Mbps. The router log reported something about "radar det...

Re: Decompile/disassmble embedded software (bootloaders)
Your first post missed the "k" in bootloader size! Broadcom CFE are generally bigger, but will always fit into a number of flash erase blocks, for bigger flash chips there will be up to 256kB ones. There were some adam2 or pspboot sources (possibly incomplete) in Linksys or Acorp GPL releases, not s...

Re: Decompile/disassmble embedded software (bootloaders)
The bootloaders are a bit bigger than 64 bytes! About 1024 times bigger! There is sourcecode available for some adam2, pspboot or Broadcom CFE bootloaders, but individual manufacturers may tweak ram timings or switch chip initialization and sources in GPL releases may not be the ones used! Pretty th...

Re: ASUS AC68U dsl Help
Does the sly router have a modem mode, virginmedia's superhubs do? AFAIK merlin/tomato/dd-wrt support the Ethernet "RT" version of the Asus routers. I know nothing about VDSL!

Re: help with some dlink routers
I have tried OpenWRT and it is cool to be able to boot recent kernel versions on old hardware, but I never found it usable, always incomplete WIP and the routers I tried had too small flash to install many packages. It is important for the start address of mtd1 to be correct - this is where the boot...

Re: 2.97 Firmware vulnerabilities
Interesting, but the web gui is only http and not secure so you shouldn't expose it to the big bad internet, and probably worse things can happen if you have a hacker inside your LAN! You don't actually need the web gui in normal operation so there is an option not to run the http server, can always...

Re: Random Blank Pages
:welcome: Unless you are doing something like adblocking with 3rd party firmware on the router - it definitely sounds as though it is a BT fault, perhaps a repeat of a few weeks ago? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2014/12/12/bt_infinity_working_to_fix_the_problem_after_three_days_of_outages/ You could...

Re: Nosy parents-How to get around them?
As a parent not sure I should help - I have this ability via a Tomato router, but rarely use it, but I do not know of other router firmwares that have this ability! If you use https pages then it is not possible for anything between you and the search website to see the search terms! But are you sur...

Re: Stuck with my R7000 after a flash from dd-wrt to tomato
Netgear R7000 is a Broadcom ARM model, for which Tomato support is very new, and it seems that reset buttons and 30-30-30 don't not work at the moment. It is a common problem when switching from dd-wrt to tomato that Tomato uses the same variable name but not the password encryption that dd-wrt uses...

Re: Firmware erased by PCTool
Old router not working? And you blame PC Tool!
Check the PSU and then internals for bulging capacitors, and give us a clue why you think PC Tool would help.

Re: Help please router dsl 2540b
Greetings to you too! Do try a hardware reset button if there is one, some sites recommend a 30-30-30 reset which means press and hold the button, wait 30 second, turn router off wait 30 seconds, turn on wait 30 seconds then release the button Unfortunately it is possible to 'brick' any device when ...

Please search the forums - some users have had a lot of trouble with that router - so we don't give recommendations, and not all routers with the same model no on the case have the same inside - start here

Re: Force broadcast ARP on the wan link
What WAN connection type is that? ARP only applies to Ethernet comms on local lan segment AFAIK, and devices do fall out of the arp/neighbour table after about 5 minutes. But it is just a matter of timing out on no traffic can't you just ping the ISP gateway or DNS server every few minutes as a keep...
