Ok - I'm not at home at the moment but as I remember if i'm just connected to the network not browsing - not even connected to WAN then it's about 600k. When using p2p with reduced connection limits it goes down less than 100k I think - only reason I ask is that it has in the past (pre-RT FW) crashe...

Right well that's the other thing I suppose - what else can I turn off to free up the most amount of ram - I don't need any features really - I don't use UPnP and don't really need to use IPaccounting or USB. Any linux files that could be edited to stop certain services running? Really wish I'd boug...

Maybe I'll try to see if I can exchange it for a wireless one. I'll have to send it back with your firmware on it though (not having backed up the orginal firmware - if only someone had warned me...) Will send env later on it's PSP boot, 4 port+1 usb, ADSL2/2+ Actually it's on ebay - Pluscom's websi...

I get the feeling that from a stability point of view especially with p2p use and having more than one person on a network, it would have been smarter to get a wireless router with 4 ports even if I were not to actually use the wireless side - but simply for the extra RAM. Anyway, if it helps at all...

Update - it wasn't actually bricked. It all worked fine when I did a proper factory reset. Now this router works fine too.

So thanks all

Any chance of SNMP?

Firstly, sorry dad . I've been bad I know and sure enough I'm not going to do it again. :P I must say that I did get the right bootloader and I've got two modems so it's no massive deal - I know it must be tiresome when people don't take precautions - I'd already flashed one of my routers and it run...

Will try that tonight - I suppose it'll be useful if two people want the same thing. I better get a new harddrive if it's all going to be saved to my box! I suppose i'd only need to open one port on the router instead of 3 so thats bound to help - i'm not really 100% sure if it's the incoming connec...

NAT on PC

Ok, not so sure i'm going to be explaining this well so patience.. I was thinking about using my PC as the router for the network so that there's never any NAT memory problems on the router any longer. Thing is i don't really want to get a hub and another NIC - so - these routers have 4 separate LAN...

Yea will do - I'm not home now so will have to be later on. The reason I suspect it has more RAM is because in Update Gateway the max file size is 3.5 MB - however thinking about it it could be becuase it takes a single img file rather than multiple files... I dunno :) I'll send the env when I'm bac...

Yea that I did remember to do ie - Older router(adam2), newer router(psp) - I checked it all with telnet. It's odd becuase the router isn't static - it does boot up - windows reports some activity - ie the lights come on then go off, then on, then off - like it's rebooting itself - then after two re...

Update - so I got into the Brick with PCtool and then realised what all that bold red text was in the Readme.First - about, hmm what was it... backing up the current firmware or something... Yea so now I have an empty brick. Any ideas why the 2.2 doesn't work - and do you know of any other firmware ...

Ok - upgraded firmware last night to both routers - ADDON(adam2) and PlusCom(psb). Now I have one really decent router which hasn't showed any signs of crashing like it used to... and one lovely blue brick. So now it's back to PCTool - though really I'm more than happy with the current router - the ...

I have an old laptop with a small harddrive and no USB for expansion so that's not ideal... It already has linux on it as it's very slow - I think PII 200 or something! Having said that I could pick up some old thing online. Will try to think of a cheaper solution for the time being. I could leave m...

I would do - I have Ubuntu/XP dual - but I don't often use Ubuntu - only when I want to see windows disappear in a colourful flash or lots of translucent things - I didn't install Ubuntu for any real reason :) I use XP a lot - I could put the computer into Ubuntu at night maybe leave it downloading ...

Thanks a lot for your reply - it's much appreciated.

Btw - can I telnet into the router to find out various information so i can see if it's compatible? I can't remember where I saw how you check for Adam2 and Linux MIPS and all that - have you got a link?

Thanks,

W.
