Are you sure its YOUR router that can be seen by your friend ?

To test your router from 'home' try using an online port scanner such as ShieldsUP

On the serial boot console do you get the option to either "press any key" or "press esc" to halt the boot ?
Do you have the env ( would look similar to first section of serial boot text ) settings from when the router was working.

BEFORE resetting anything.

Can you post screen shots of the 'LAN Configuration' page of both routers.

Do you mean the other router works ok with v2.8 or that the router works ok with a another firmware.

 Forgot something
should have been

Code: Select all

ifconfig eth1 up
then

Code: Select all

brctl addif br0 eth1
If port 2 now works (will only work until the router is rebooted/ power cycled)
change eth1 in above commands
to eth2 for port 3
and eth3 for port 4.

The file needs to be given a RAR or TAR extension and then use winRAR again.
Should then have the following folders

Code: Select all

4mb_flash
annexb
docs
led
and files

Code: Select all

Has been a long time since I used JMK but that was the problem I found with it, had to ping my URL to find the IP and use that to access the router remotely.
Other than that it was one of the best firmawares for the old conexant based routers.

@mstombs JMK does support "WAN IP local nat loopback"

Are the static IP's still within the DHCP range ?
Did you try it before changing the routers IP , If not too much trouble may be worth checking it from default settings.

It should be possible to use "custom port forwarding" to forward WAN ( either a fixed IP and netmask of 255.255.255.255 or IP of 0.0.0.0 and netmask of 0.0.0.0 ) port 443 to port 22 on routers LAN IP.

If that doesn't work then would have to use iptables commands in the env.

Also, what is the significance of the TNETW ID? It has to match the ID that is hard coded on the wireless card if it is wrong then the wireless will fail causing NVS_TFTP_LOAD to be set to 1 to try and download the correct WLAN file from an tftp server. In what way does the router become a brick ? ...
