If you don't know what he did, best thing to do is reset it to factory defaults. then once you have put all your setting back in, back it up, so the next time he messes around with it you can put it back how it was

Most of the latest Netgear routers have a traffic meter as standard. So i would assume most of the other major manufactures do the same.

Reading about this router it sounds as though it could be faulty. When you tried to reset the router to factory settings did you hold the paper clip down for at least 5 seconds? This reminds me of a problem Virgin are having with certain areas. I am aware that some there customers who play online games, cannot connect to certain servers, and only a few. If they disconnect their Dlink Virgin supplied router and connect there modem direct to their PC every works as it should....

Can you not check by a process of elimination?
ie. get the third party to disconnect and see if your speed improves? The third party could well be using torrents in a big way.

From what I have read, but Kieran should be able to confirm. If you go over to Infinity you will have to say goodbye to any Modem research you do! BT Infinity is VDSL, not ADSL, and so current modems will not work. They change your BT face plate so you will not connect to it with a phone cable , but...
