Do they actually support running darkstat inside a router? I don't see why not. It said that on any system that can run a PPPoE connection, DarkStat will work. And on my D-Link G604T (flashed using DarkWolf's mod), it worked. Tried that also, didn't work. I used darkstat -i ppp0 I believe that dark...

It probably will, if you can find the appropriate drivers for it. If it truly is an acx111 card then using the acx driver on Linux platforms should work. However, you may or may not be able to get drivers for it on Windows platforms.

Check your router LEDs. If the one that corresponds to the computer you're trying to boot turns off, then the computer's network card has powered off, and all subsequent WOL attempts will fail. It could be that the network card powers off after a while.

Whoops sorry I didn't realize that you were using port forwarding. I thought you were telnet-ing into your router from the Internet, then using the wakelan utility.

You should find out and memorize/write down the Mac address of the computer you're trying to wake. I've found that this works for me:

Code: Select all

wakelan -m <mac address> -b 192.168.1.255
p.s. 192.168.1.0 is not the broadcast, it refers to the network. 192.168.1.255 is the broadcast.

That's very odd. Usually any issues with speed on Linux's Firefox are cleared up using Routertech firmware. Why don't you disable IPv6 DNS lookups and see if that helps?

Ah thanks for the info. From what I see there's still some security issues with automatic port forwarding, so I'll just stick with the manual port forwarding method then. Also, I run an Ubuntu box so I'm really not worried about viruses, but since I've got Flash, this whole Flash-based UPnP attack s...

I see. Thanks for the info. I noticed the the UPnP also provides NAT-PMP. What's the difference between these two? Is NAT-PMP more secure in any way?

Routertech v2.5's Changelog shows that UPnP bugs have been fixed. Does that include this one?

If you've used the D-Link tiupgrade utility you should have no problems uploading it in this case then. Please refer to this thread: https://www.routertech.org/viewtopic.php?t=1925&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 Instructions are there. What will I be missing if I upgrade (the incompatible switch c...

I do not understand you answer...... Do you mean I am too stupid to perform the upgrade ?
In short: yes.
In full: The DSL-G604T is one of the stubborn routers and upgrades usually don't go smoothly. You do not seem to have the technical knowhow to resuscitate the router if the upgrade fails.
