Ive been speaking to Pipex ... they ran a few checks on the line and then arranged a BT engineer to visit to check the line ... at the exchange box he found that the cables had corroded slightly, and a few lines were touching. One of these were my land line. So he's replaced the cables and the noise...

A man bought a donkey from an old farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. Come morning, the farmer drove up and sa...

Re: Netcomm NB5PLUS4 firmware upload

The router's IP address is 192.168.1.62 and the computers in this household all connect only through a wireless WPA-secured connection. I think this line is a clue, are you trying to upgrade the router through wireless ... please dont as it's likely to brick it. connect up using a Cat5 cable to do ...

The IP stack could of become corrupt, the command

Code: Select all

netsh int ip reset /resetlog.txt
can sometimes help

( but if you have 3rd party drivers binded to your adaptors, ie VMware bridge protocol or the protowall driver, these could become corrupt and require re-installation)

I have found what I hope is a final solution to these MTU issues. It involves enabling TCPMSS support in the kernel, and then adding an iptables command. This will be in the next release. This is fantastic news, I have a work machine on my network so that I can avoid going into the office whenever ...

Just a as a test I've dropped my MRU to 1300, and now my connection has been stable for 19 hours ...

Could the MRU of 1500 been causing the issue of the connection dropping like I had. Or is it just a fluke and I'll get the drops back after the stable session ???

There seems to be alot of issues reguarding MTU/MRU values lately; I suppose it would be due to the number of users on the Internet nowerdays??
users for once isn't the issue , it the number of machines/xbox's/ps3's/toasters ect causing the issues now :D

I thought PipeX only offered a fully bundled solution. i.e. Broadband, 01/02 phone numbers and Line rental. Do you pay PipeX for your line rental? If yes have they recently taken over your line from BT? I know they don't do it straight away. I joined pipex about 2 years ago, at that time they didn'...
