I upgrade original firmware via wireless many times and i haven't any problem Neteagle - I myself have upgraded many routers (over 30) and approx 20% of them have bricked, even though I used the LAN port. I can assure you that there is always a risk of bricking the router - upgrading wirelessly sim...

Thanks. I thought it might be a free memory problem, as the problem is much better on the wireless models that have more memory. Thechief have you worked out how much free memory Upnp actually needs to run or (perhaps due to the code you have inherited) will it always eventually crash any router giv...

Sorry about above edit. Actually I have a problem with the SART2-4115 version of the RT firmware (The cutdown non wireless version). So I hope it's appropriate to post in this thread. I have put the fw on 3 routers and when Upnp is enabled they all seem to continually reboot at 5 minute intervals. I...

According to this you can't unblock that particular model.

Although similar BT models like the 2091 can apparently be unlocked by using other (non-BT) firmware.

Thanks Neo... good grief this looks like a complete cockup! As a later post says AOL haven't changed their advice on the aol.com website  http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=aol&Number=2662464&page=&view=&sb=&o= Does this now mean that the RT software is incorrectly setup f...

Hmmm ... gets mixed reviews from here. http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/Reviews.asp?ProductID=2233 Also it has an "internal antenna" which in my experience reduces wireless range. What about getting the ADDON GWAR3000 from here (link underneath) for £40. We know (at least I have found) this is c...

I have now upgraded 7 routers from RT firmware v1 to the new V2. I must say that the upgrade seems to go more smoothly than upgrading from SC firmware to the V1 firmware that could sometimes "brick" the router. I have not had any bricks yet with this upgrade- has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks for those further suggestions. If the firmware supports the CLI on port 254 and 255 IIRC one of them gives you min/max values. Although I can get into the hidden menu on my class 1 router, I can't telnet to it. I think many of the firmwares in your list including mine seem to have had their t...

Thanks for that Kieran. I appreciate what you say, it is more convenient to use a utility but wouldn't it theoretically be nice if min and max DS SNR were added to a firmware?

I agree with you about F2S we have had horrendous problems in London now Pipex have taken them over especially on their LLU lines. However Nildram that they also took over still seem great to me... 0800 support line, English callcentre, good tech support. So I wonder what Nildram is doing right and ...

Neo, you might remember that I have modified the standard home.htz for JMK/Billion type Class 1 2M firmwares. This modification provides ADSL connection status plus SNR and attenuation figures on the initial router page to help naive users (that I have provided the router to) give feedback to myself...

Great stuff Neo..
Now if only I could modify my home.htm on this Class 1 router to show the max and min DS SNR through a router page rather than a utility. I don't suppose this is possible though....
