Wireless Issues on Billion 740x

Post by SyBorg » Fri May 19, 2006 8:29 pm

I've just been reading up on wireless issues for the above router range at the Aus Billion Forum. It confirms my suspicions that there are issues with the current fimwares (5.05 and 5.06) and allocation of IP addresses when using WPA encryption. A Beta firmware is being tested and a solution will hopefully not be far off.

For those struggling with signal strength on these routers it is possible to tweak the power output via the CLI with command port wireless set TxPowerLevel 255. This sets it to the maximum (default for me was set to 180). Using NetStumbler before and after changing the setting gave about a 10db signal increase
