Wireless not working on DSL-2640T after recovery

Post by Young » Sun Sep 16, 2012 11:03 am

Hello,

My wireless isn`t working on my router after i recovered it from bricked status
I read much topics about it and I can understand :
1- I need my MAC address for W.E.B rebuilding
2- Send the output file into my router
3- see my TNETW ID in the log and then put it into W.E.B
4- send the final file into the router and the wireless will work

Now my problem is i can`t send it with any tool to my router
I send a file before through W.E.B into my router with my correct MAC address
but i didn`t find my TNETW ID in my logs , its like nothing happened
I also have a problem :| the RUC output says I have WIFI chip: TNETW1130
Although it should be 1130A
the router was bricked after failed update from official 2007 Dlink firmware to 2009 Dlink firmware
I now have the official 2009 firmware
Help please,
Thank you

Post the system diagnostics ("Tools" menu).

Well, I'm not sure the W.E.B. will help you if you are using Dlink firmware. In any case, you first need to set NVS_TFTP_LOAD to 0 (zero) in the environment, and then reboot the router. After the router has rebooted, run the W.E.B.

Do you want me to install routertech on my router ?
it will be much easier
Is the risks are bricking the router or completely killing it?
I can`t edit my environment as no tool connect to my router after de-bricking it

This is a big question. If it works, it certainly would be much easier. But that is a big "if". Some 2640T are fine with RouterTech, and some are not. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell except by trying. It is a big risk, which is why we don't officially support the 2640T.
Young wrote:Is the risks are bricking the router or completely killing it?
I don't think you can kill it with RouterTech. At worst, you will brick it, although I don't see why even that should happen. Problems are usually around some thing or the other not working properly (but I wouldn't try anything with QOS).
Young wrote:I can`t edit my environment as no tool connect to my router after de-bricking it
There shouldn't be any problem connecting with tools. If you can connect via telnet, then you should be able to connect with the W.E.B. and RUC.

When i make an environment with correct MAC address with W.E.B and send it to router , the file is send and router reboots but nothing happens the environment after reboot are the same before as the log from router are same too
When i set NVS_TFTP_LOAD 0 the environment get trashed

How are you sending it?

Hmmm ... that shouldn't happen, unless there are some fundamental issues with the router's environment.

It is a linux login prompt. You will not see anything when you type the password. Type in the correct password and press enter.

Okay I have logged in and set NVS_TFTP_LOAD to zero
note that it turns to 1 after router reboot
but i still have 1130 chipset although i should be 1130A
What shall I do now?

If you're feeling brave, then you can upgrade to RouterTech. Otherwise, you are stuck.

The wireless is up now
Thanks to this topic viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5271&start=30
the fact that i had to use RRT to make a safe brick for PCtool to operate in
then using normal steps for getting TNETW ID
Thank you .
