Hi

What do you mean by a normal wireless adapter?

They should work with a wireless router or AP with no problems.

I have heard you have to make sure the MTU setting is correct on the WII

For example with a Safecom SWMULZ-5400

will it work wiht the Wii or does it only connect to a wireless router

thanks

Anything that allows the Wii to obtain an IP address should work. If this wireless adaptor is connected to a PC and that PC is sharing its internet connection and acting as a DHCP server for example, then yes, the Wii will work with it.

The kind of wireless dongle linked to though doesn't have much of a range on it though - if you want this kind of setup you would be better with a PCI card for a desktop or a PCMCIA card for a laptop

CAreful here Guys :? not all consoles will work with "non-proprietary" USB wireless adapters and need "custom" unit - for example xbox 360 need "special" usb wireless adapter or connected vie ethernet to a"standard" ethernet bridge/ap unit.....

Not sure if the Wii works just with a dongle providing the wireless?

I do know that it works without many problems via a wireless router or ap.

Still waiting for my Wii :x so cannot comment personally :?

As I said I have no idea if it will work getting it's wireless signal just from a USB dongle.

If you dongle is set to channel 6 though it will not work!

No reason it should not work using the PC internet connection sharing with the USB dongle in the PC, however, I'd get a cheap wireless router.

I agree Steve, by far the best way is to get yourself a wireless router
Not just for your Wii, but sharing your Internet between PC's :)
