Netgear DG834GV v2 not cutting the mustard

Post by marilynliddell » Wed Jun 27, 2018 10:36 am

hi having problem with the mentioned router

symptoms have similar thread.

on simplest level, when one person is going a download, the other person cant access internet, home network. there is plenty of bandwidth 1.8GB, one person may only use1/3 of that, but other person has no internet access. As soon as download stops, other computer has internet access restored.

Also, the other day i was doing a data dump from one computer to a storage device, i was on another computer, and my gaming ping went from 22 to over 1000. So it seems i cant do a data dump over the network without internet becoming unavailable. If one computer is accessing show in line, or playing an internet based game, internet speed suffers greatly on other computer, even though plenty of bandwidth available

so it seems the router is not keeping processes separately, and not allocating resources properly - just my guess

2 computers on network are both late models, win 7 and win 8.

hope someone can help with this issue, it is driving us mad.

Suggest you search the posts for TB6560. It seems that the TB6560 is well discussed with disgust. Apparently not a good choice it seems. Why are they all over eBay ?

First, a little background information. I have been living with the very same ISP for over 10 years and recently they upgraded from ADSL2+ to FTTC (with an NTE5). This left me in a bit of a dilemma since my trusty old Netgear DG834GV v2 would no longer be able to get Fibre.

As my new kit arrived I saw that it was the same as the old one and decided to "upgrade". However, after setting up everything and testing I found myself disappointed with speeds not far off those I had before on ADSL2+.

I set out to work finding out how to fix this. After some long Google searching and reading, I came across a number of possible solutions. Here are the results of my tests.

Possible Solutions - tested by me * PFIFOEN = Yes / No * TCP Chimney Offload = enabled/disabled * HTB Bandwidth Class = default / high-class NOTE: If you have recently tried any of these options please post your results in the comments section below so that people can find the solution.
