Two problems

1.
875 root 2676 S /usr/sbin/pppd plugin pppoe nas0 user [xx] password
....
4022 root 2676 S /usr/sbin/pppd plugin pppoa 0.38 user user@ispname p
You seem to have both a pppoa and a pppoe connection. Delete the default "quickstart" connection.

2.
Fragmentation level is "82" (out of 155 records). The threshold is "50".
The environment is badly fragmented (although this is not what is causing your problem). You might want to defragment the environment.

Hopefully, things should run better now. There may still be some pppoe issues, but you will not get the clash with pppoa.

No, there isn't. You can email the system log to yourself if you can get sendmail working with your isp's smtp server. Otherwise, you will need access to a writeable file system, and then set up a "cron" job to copy the system log to it periodically (either create a minix partition on the router itself, or mount a network drive via smbfs - the latter is likely to prove more suitable). None of this is for the faint-hearted, but everything you need to know is in the documentation.

Re: ADM6996 switch frying after a while.

It turns out the problem is unrelated to what firmware or configuration are used, but rather a hardware problem: heat and cheap electrolytic caps.

Known affected:
D-Link AR7-based routers with ADM6996M or IP175A switches.
Ex: DSL-5xxT, DSL-G624T, DSL-2640T, etc.
NOTE: AR7 modems have a reputation of running HOT and the 524T is no exception, so if you're planning to run it for any lenght of time, attaching an heatsink to the CPU might be a good idea. Heat production varies between samples, but the two 524T I've used had no problems in running 24/7 for months.

NOTE: After some months of operation, the ethernet switch included in some 5xxT starts to become unreliable (you'll notice a lot of retransmissions and a much slower connection). One workaround is to force the switch to operate in 10Mb/s mode (unfortunately this requires a kernel patch). This is the same as the problem described here: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=8117

This is actually caused by the cheap electrolytic capacitors that smooth the power supply to the switch IC, which degrade over time (and with heat). Replacing the capacitors fixes the problem. Look for a capacitor of about 100uF, one near each short side of the switch IC (IP175), and replace with the same rating.

Setup your ISP connection correctly, and enable the wireless AP.
