SNR % modification with routertech firmware?

Post by fiftypence » Mon Jan 19, 2009 9:14 am

Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a Safecom router so I can use the Routertech firmware as the QOS side of things is of great interest. However, where I live, I have the need to modify the SNR tolerance (currently in %) to allow me to squeeze some more bandwidth out of the connection. For example, if I drop my SNR to 90% of the default, I can squeeze about another 650kbps out of the connection speed.
I couldn't see this in the feature list for v2.8. Could someone tell me whether the firmware does it or not please?

Many thanks in advance,

Joel

Welcome to the Routertech forum, Joel :)

You can use the RSL ( viewtopic.php?t=1501 ) with a Class II router to tweak the SNR margin threshold and try the advanced settings to improve your connection.

SNR tweak for example on old SpeedTouch firmwares seems to be a due to Broadcom chipset. There's one tweak on AR7 that increases the SNR reported by 2dB to reduce the connect speed!
