D-Link G604T gets a 100% flash but no new firmware....

Post by ziggary » Mon Jan 26, 2009 9:02 am

Abit about my story...

Every time i have had a firmware brick i have been able to recover it by setting static ip and running exe firmware in recovery mode...

Now since i have been using Tech firmware 2.8 for sometime with no problems. The only thing that bothered me was the status lights were wrong and wanted to fix them with the supplied led script in the firmware for D-Link G604T.

So i did the following...

using pctool 2.3

flashed the firmware over again and also on the same program ran a script from the led file from pctool....

Since then...

no matter what i flash the modem to, from dlink ( exe file recovery mode) to routertech via pctool i still cant get the phone unbricked..

No matter what firmware i install 100% it still keeps this device ip of the router 5.8.8.8 :/

Also i need to stress that i can flash it with all apps to 100% but non of them actually change the firmware..

Any help ??

Thanks in advance.
Zigga

Please help...

:welcome:

The led bat file is intended for use when the router is running, it just logs in over Telnet and sets an env var - not sure what it has to do with PCTool, and no need to reflash firmware!

Please post a copy of your current env vars - you can view/edit them with PCTool, there's probably just something missing.

Which RT firmware are you trying

routertech_ar7wrd_pspboot_firmware_20081123.zip

routertech_ar7wrd_adam2_firmware_20081123.zip

routertech_ar7wrd_1350a_pspboot_firmware_20081123.zip

Before modem mailfuntioned i tried to flash it with

DarkWolf_V3.00B03_krn+fs via PCTOOL ( note it came in tiupgrade format) but i flashed it with PCTOOL and md4 script was ran from script in PCTOOL.

From here http://darkwolf.altervista.org/index.ph ... iew&idev=2

Which makes me think this is the cuplrit...

As i have found out setting an ip say for example 1.1.1.1 when i try to flash it again with this firmware it changes the ip to 5.8.8.8 !!!!!

The only firmware that changes the ip to this 5.8.8.8....

I might have just fried the modem..

If i cant get enough response tonight i might go and buy a new one it seems.. :"(

Router uses PSP bootloader

Code: Select all

bootloaderVersion 1.3.7.15

DarkWolf G604T v3.00B03-NZ firmware is for ADAM2 bootloader hence this entry

Code: Select all

autoload 1

Try using routertech_ar7wrd_pspboot_firmware_20081123.zip

If that doesn't work then try routertech_ar7wrd_1350a_pspboot_firmware_20081123.zip
as

Code: Select all

CPUFREQ 211968000
MIPSFREQ 211968000
SYSFREQ 105984000
suggests it may use the TNETW1350A wifi chip NOTE if it does then wireless won't work (yet)

It looks like the ENV has been defaulted by the bootloader due to either the wrong use of the led bat file or ADAM2 firmware confusing the loacation of MTD3 (which contains the ENV)

i have tried routertech_ar7wrd_pspboot_firmware_20081123.zip still doesnt change the firmware nor the ip even if it says firmware update complete using both PCTOOL and RRT

Also tried DSL-G604T_V3.02B01T01.NZ.20080827.exe and DSL-G604T_GenII_V3.02B01T01.AU-A.20061222.exe both via recovery mode and both install without drammas but no firmware change nor ip change.....

As for the other stuff like frequencies i don't understand that .. :(

can u explain it in abit more detail bud..

If i fix this in an hour or so i can get laid :P wife will be very happy :P

Just noticed this

Code: Select all

BOOTCFG m:f:"mtd1"
is missing from the ENV
without it then bootloader won't know how to 'run' the firmware.

Routers with these settings use a faster CPU when used on wireless routers I have only seen them when the TNETW1350A wifi chip is used.
