Overheat & Connection issues with ENDSL-AR4 router(Conexant)

Post by Leito360 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:31 am

Hello.
Since a couple of days I've been experiencing connections issues using this router manufactured by Encore, also, I noticed that the conexant chip is extremely hot.
I thought that removing the case and adding a fan to throw some air to the chip was going to solve the issue but I was wrong, it just keep disconnecting or having troubles to load webpages like Gmail, Google or Facebook.

Does anyone has any idea what is causing this? I mean, Is because the overheating?

I'm thinking that maybe, some of the components broke up with the heat before I removed the case, but I'm not sure.

Probably, changing the firmware (I have the Conexant one) to JMK's will, somehow, solve the issue.

Which leads me to ask:

What features does the JMK fw provides over the rest?

All the documentation quoted in the forums have dead links (I read like 91 post related to JMK), can anyone shine some light here?

If someone needs more information, just ask for it.

This is my router:
