Which Router ? Directly into Ethernet.

Post by randrproductions » Mon Aug 05, 2013 4:54 pm

Hi there, we have just moved into an office, but have tried several routers to no avail.

The type of connection we have, is one where we plug our laptops directly into the one ethernet port here, however we want to create a wireless network, we have tried two types of router, one required a telephone line connection, so wasn't compatible.

And the other one (Belkin N600D Wireless + )where the ethernet would go, said Modem. And it obviously could not pick up the modem and again didn't work,

We are just plugging into a basic ethernet port to amplify the connection if you like, to a wireless network.

Are we doing something wrong ?

well not everything is plug and play
you still have to configure some settings in the belkin router

which would be done using your web browser and opening an address like 192.168.1.1 <- the exact number would be in the manual or you can contact their tech support for a step by step guide
