Hello,
I got a bricked D-link DSL-G624T, adam2 4 port modem with the original firmware in;
Router didn't answer to ping anymore, but FTP connection works smootly.
I set the mtds and flashed a Routertech 2.97 firmware via FTP, hoping it would allow me to start the modem;
I didn't got any succes - leds are OK, but no answer to ping nor to telnet etc.
I tried with a openwrt ar7 firmware, after correcting the mtds, but it didn't work too;
I went back to Routertech (and mtds), but still no succes;
When I get the env, i have the impression that some parameters are different each env download I do; I think it could be a heavily fragmented environment problem, but I do not know how to solve the problem - i tried to erase configuration
put empty "0x0 mtd3"
but empty is not recognized by my adam2 FTP server;
I tried to fix environment but no succes
230 User adam2 successfully logged in.
Remote system type is UNIX.
ftp> quote "FIXENV"

you find attached the original env file (oldenv, pdf is a trick to load on site) and the env file downloaded after tricking;
Is there any way to defrag the environment?
Any good idea?
Thx and happy new year,
Paolo

Re: bricked DSL-G624T
THe problem is not the environment. The problem is a router that has 32mb RAM. Our kernel does not support 32mb RAM, and I am not aware of any 3rd party AR7 firmware that does (which is not to say that there isn't one). You may need to go back to the original DLink firmware.
Otherwise, you could try to hack the RT firmware kernel to support 32mb RAM. I am not sure where in the kernel sources you would even start to do that, or how easy/difficult a task it would be - but if you are adept at hacking the linux kernel, then you should be able to do it (perhaps you could ask on linux kernel development forums).

Re: bricked DSL-G624T
thank you for your answer,
I can't find an original firmware on a site now
I believe they are not anymore in dlink servers
does someone have a good original firmware for this router?

I think you want to look on Italian forums (e.g., http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/printthre ... =229&pp=20) or Australian Whirlpool forums.

Re: bricked DSL-G624T
I think Alex K, UK but active on those Aus forums has a copy of latest DLink firmware on his site
http://download.modem-help.co.uk/mfcs-D ... T01/Italy/
Small downloads are free, but contribution required for larger.
