D-link DSL-g624T bricked
D-link DSL-g624T bricked
Hi all,
yesteday night I flashed this firmware routertech-ar7wrd-adam2-firmware-4ports-20120130 using the dlink router administration interface on my old dsl-g624T
Not the lan port led is on (when the lan cable is connected) and also the power led is on but I cannot connect to the router: the lan still say limited connection (windows and now wifi present.
There is a way to recover the router?
I was trying t use it as wireless access point, connected to the main router but its lan ports did not work so I tryed with the Router Tech firmware

If the LAN ports were not working, how did you flash the firmware? I hope you didn't do it via wireless ...

Ops, yes, via wireless.
I'm aware that is not the best way to flash things but was an old old router so I accepted the risk.

Re: D-link DSL-g624T bricked
Well, that is a very good way to produce a brick. Even if the router is not bricked, the wireless AP is disabled by default, and you need to enable it manually - which means that you still need a connection via a LAN port. Your only hope is to get one of the LAN ports working. If you set the network card to connect at 10mbps, you might be able to resurrect some of the LAN ports.

Re: D-link DSL-g624T bricked
Setting my lan port to 10Mbs worked.
I enabled wifi as displayed in the home page:
LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: Enabled
DHCP Range: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS:
Secondary DNS:
Wireless: Enabled
SSID:
Security Type: WEP
WEP Key: xx xx xx xx xx
two problems:
* i cannot see the McG wifi from smartphone nor from laptop.
* set in the related page to avoid wireless security.
I already restarted the AP from the dedicated page but nothing happened.
Now can I restore the router lan ports?
I want to use it as wireless access point to have wifi signal in a room (I want to connect this old dlink to the new netgear via ethernet cable)

Re: D-link DSL-g624T bricked
Failing LAN ports often hardware failure due to bad electrolytic capacitors.
Re: D-link DSL-g624T bricked
So probably is cheaper to buy a new routert..
What about wifi? I enabled it as displayed in the previous post but no new wireless appears on the hone or laptop

Did you save your settings and reboot the router?

Bow wireless is on in the Setup page.
This is the home page
LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: Enabled
DHCP Range: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS:
Secondary DNS:
Wireless: Enabled
SSID:
Security Type: WEP
WEP Key:xxxxxx
The problems are:
* no "MCG" wireless signal found with the laptop nor with the smartphone.
I set "Security" to none, click apply, click in the bottom part of the page "Restart AP", click "Save All", click "Restart Access point" but it still has wep protection and not detected by others devices

You should restart the router instead of just restarting the AP.

Re: D-link DSL-g624T bricked
I set no wireless security, apply, save all, reboot router, the page shows wait 3 minutes.
I waited but when I login again wep security is set and also no wireless appear searching form the laptop or the smartphone.
LAN IP Address: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: Enabled
DHCP Range: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254
Primary DNS:
Secondary DNS:
Wireless: Enabled
SSID:
Security Type: WEP
WEP Key: xx xx xx xx
Why no wireless detected?

Post the firmware system diagnostics (under the Tools menu) - after removing all personal information.
