I need some help figuring out what's going on with these Tik's.. My network topology is attached. Currently, the traffic for 192.168.5.0/24 follows the path R5, R6, R1 and the traffic for 192.168.4.0/24 goes R4, R1.
I want the 5.0/24 to follow R5, R3, R4, R1
I want the 4.0/24 to follow R4, R3, R2, R1
I set the local-pref value to 500 on R5 F0/0 outbound. R3 learns about the new local-pref value. However none of the other network does. And the data continues to flow R5, R6, R1..
I set the local-pref value to 500 on R4 F0/1, and R3 learns about the new local-pref value, but it still does not propagate to any other routers inside the same internal AS.
What am I doing wrong? R1 still shows that route with a Local-Pref value of 100.. My understanding is LP is iBGP inner-as wide attribute.. I want traffic to flow like the blue graphic, not the red graphic. Thanks everyone!
