Router Choice

Post by bsieloff » Thu Nov 09, 2017 5:16 pm

Greetings,

I am looking for some advice. At home I currently have Comcast Xfinity internet service at 50mbps with 5 public IP addresses. I'm looking to upgrade to 150mbps with the 5 public IP addresses.

I currently use a cisco 5505 to NAT to the 5 IP's. I'm concerned that the 5505 will not handle 150mbps. Does anyone have experience with the 5505 and will it support 150mbps? I'm not using it to do any IPS or real firewall work, just route.

If the 5505 is not a good option, what would be a good router to replace the 5505? I use to work on routers and switches 15 years ago so my networking skills are waning. A router that can handle NAT with 5 public IP's, support 150mbps and does not cost an arm and a leg. I saw this at new egg https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... lsrc=aw.ds , not sure if that would do the trick.

Thanks for your help,

-B
