getting log from router

getting log from router

I have a Sumvison Sohospeed ASW800 router which looks as if it should be suitable to be flashed with the :D AR7WRD_3.6.0 D-20061029_2.1 RouterTech.firmware.upgrade, although I have not done that yet. I am hoping to be able to get a log of my PPP session setup, with an output which will tell me the RAS to which I am connected, such as :
rcvd [CHAP Challenge id=0xd2
<58a6e0aa9fd9c297660b6db177211172>, name = "ERX1.Miltonkeynes"]
The manual mentions that there is software for log of debugging, and I have set up the router for logging debugging to one of my computers, but there was no software supplied. I can't find any suitable commands in Telnet.
Can you advise how I am to get the information form the router?
The reason I am looking for this information is to find out why latency has increased to 42mS from 25mS whilst not interleaved.
