The latest version (1.0.26) is now available, in which the exchange info fetching should work again :)

By the way, unless you have moved location, you only need to click on the "Get distance via Internet (UK only)" button once - the exchange details should be saved by the RSL for future reference.

Thanks for the feedback, PJ36 :)

The only way I can reproduce the error is if I enter some invalid characters into the setting file for the loss rate (which should be 13.81 by default). I noticed in the screenshot with the error that the "Cable Loss" value appears to be missing or invalid.

I have updated 1.0.26 to try to prevent this happening - please try it again at your earliest convenience :)

Neo,

Before re-trying again I just backed up stats.txt file fro the prevous monitoriing, and delted the files all of them completly and re-instaleld the new version.

Happy to tell you no error 13 message at all, didn't have to close down the logger at all was able to get router info and get distance and calculate best with no needs to close down.

Thanks, Neo, maybe I am the only one interested in this exchange? But I am doign this for a reason because if the router logger says I should be able to achieve a sync speed according to the info about my exchange and my distance etc.

Thanks PJ.

Thanks for the additional feedback, PJ36, I'm glad it's working OK for you now :)

The exchange info can be handy and I think it saves a bit of time over doing the calculations manually (when it works) :). I expect there will always be a difference between the estimated and actual distances since the loss rate is only theoretical and there is always some source of interference/degradation between the exchange and the router.

It seems that the exchange data table (used for IP profile calculations) has been corrupted somehow - can you try deleting all the files in the current RSL folder and download 1.0.27 again?

Or alternatively, perhaps your PC's region settings are somehow interfering? This Windows 98 example shows the number setting: http://www.youthtech.com/techstuff/expl ... onset1.htm What regional settings do you have?

Target Noise Margin

Post by LinerX » Sun Oct 26, 2008 4:21 pm

Hi Neo,

I want to ask you for a Option to adjust the Target Noise Margin manual in both directions.
(less margin for more speed, more margin for less Speed and more stability).
We haven't found a real Option for that in the Stats Logger.

We are working with,
DSP Datapump version: [7.03.00.19] Annex B
(all advanced Options are avalible)

A option for that would be very helpfull/needfull !
We have found and tested some options to boost the Downstream Speed
but we haven't found anything to adjust the Target Noise Margin manual.

The RSL can only make use of what is made available by the router's hardware/firmware. There is the 'Retrain margin' feature (under the 'Settings' tab) and more advanced settings such as DSLFC0 (bit) 25, which adds a "2dB additional noise margin to improve the long term line stability". Indirectly, those should affect the speed.

If those don't do what you want, I don't think I can add the feature to the RSL because all the things it can do (with regard to tweaking the router's connection), it does already (hope that makes sense ;) ).

Is there a way to set up (reduce) the Channel Power Level ?
Because RT always use FULL Power 22dB
on very short Lines that is not the best way.

btw.
the X-Axis as Tone Graph is incorrect.

DS Data dont start at tone 64 it starts at tone 96.

see that hole between tone 64-96
