Firstly Chief, you guys are doing great work! I never thought I would be able to enable DDNS on my 20th century WA1003A :D
2. If you have RouterTech firmware v2.91 (or higher), then do NOT attempt to use this toolkit. The functionality is built in.
What is meant by functionality being built-in? Does my firmware 2.96 defragment the environment on a scheduled basis?

My router boots up fine most of the time, but sometimes it just hangs on boot with both ADSL and Wireless LEDs off and no way to telnet. Could this lack of stability be due to fragmentation?

Does an ADAM2 router get fragmented only when writing a new firmware, or does the fragmentation take place even with regular day to day usage?

Yes, it could be. But it may just as easily be hardware related.

It gets fragmented when something is written into the environment. This happens often enough.

Thank you, that explains! I am amazed though that it lasted all these 10 years despite the issues with fragmentation.

If the fragmentation gets up to a point, the whole environment is trashed, and default values are restored. Often, this would also brick the router, but not always. I would imagine that, in your case, this might have happened once or twice over the 10 years ...

Yes indeed! Once in blue moon the router did spontaneously reset itself to factory defaults, probably 3 or 4 instances in these 10yrs.

You're fortunate that the router was not bricked when these happened!
