d-link dsl 500T trouble

Post by Ka4_0k » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:09 pm

Hi.
I have updated the firmware to routertech 2.95 and router itself works fine. But I have some troubles with configuration.
Here is my problem:
I have done everything that was in the docs/upgrade.html, but my router just refuses to connect.. I've selected correct modulation type, created a new connection with my ISP settings (tried PPPoE and PPPoA, despite the fact that my ISP uses only PPPoE ), played with MRU and other settings and after I click on the Apply - Connect button (or Save All - Reboot) there is still no connection..

Here some screenshots (config itself, dsl statisticts, connection status and status on the home page)
Dsl stats shows that there is traffic between me and ISP, but connection status and statistics on the home page are saying that the WAN connection is down and Ping test in the tools section saying that the destination network is unreachable (8.8.8.8 )
Here is PC configuration:

IPv4-address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1
Subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 (router ip address)

Now I've configured router to work in the bridge mode and all works fine, but it would be better if the router will operate in "Router" mode..
What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

There have been quite a few reports of PPPoE not working, and where the ISP supports PPPoA as well that usually works. Unfortunately we don't know why - is there anything special when you make the PPP endpoint on your PC, "service name", MTU, MRU, authentication type? D-Link pppd generally works in such cases, but we don't know what they have done to it, or the "core-logic" that configures it.

Trained Modulation: ADSL_2plus_AnxM
Why are you using this modulation?

No, just created a "new high speed dsl connection" in windows 7..
Why are you using this modulation?
I have used it on the previous (D-Link) firmware and my ISP told me to use it. Bridge connection works fine with that modulation.
I've already tried to use MULTI_MODE and ADSL_2plus modulation but there is still no connection.

Post the RUC output from the Dlink firmware before you upgraded to RouterTech.

modulation 0xffff
This is problematic. Do a forum search for "0xffff" and you'll see why. My advice is that, if things continue to be problematic, to consider returning to your Dlink firmware, which obviously understands the need for a modulation value of 0xffff (which normally means nothing that I know of).

could u please try this step.

login to webgui, disconnect your connection first (Config Manager Stopped the PPPoE Session)
login to ssh, type the following commands :

# ifconfig nas0 down
# ifconfig nas0 hw ether 00:50:BA:xx:xx:xx
# ifconfig nas0 up

back to webgui, click connect and check the status. seems my isp didn't like -> 00:00:02:03:04:05 at all

thanks, but that didn't help.. I have tried different combinations but results were the same..

In this document there is a note about 0xffff modulation. Can I do anything like that in the routertech firmware? Or can I take the pppd from d-link official firmware and use it in the routertech? Or can I connect my router to the "some user-friendly" linux desktop, and setup a bridge connection via GUI in there and use parameters of pppd (in the processlist) in my router's pppd? Windows works well in bridge mode with my router but I can't see any connection properties like mtu or something like that..

Don't know about "some user-friendly linux desktop" for setting up bridge connections. But the answer to your other questions is "no" - but you can run this from telnet

Code: Select all

setenv modulation 0xffff
/sbin/reboot

DSP Datapump version: [7.00.04.00] Annex A
Are you sure that you should be using an Annex A DSP driver? Clearly the RUC did not complete its task before you upgraded (which itself should have been warning enough), because there is no information about the DSP driver that you were running with your Dlink firmware.

sorry it didn't work for you.

to thechief,

i have 2 adsl connection with both using dlink 2540t. i installed routertech fw 2.95. as my suggestion step above, my modem only work in router mode if i set nas0 mac instead of using default addr 00:00:02:03:04:05. please kindly tell me how to set this permanently, either using a script or change it in a file.

thanks for your help.

Manufacturers: D-link Corporation
RNDIS: Telogy Networks Inc
HRNDIS: Telogy Networks Inc
Warning! Core Logic (NSP) could not be read. If the Core Logic version is too low you may need to upgrade to your router manufacturer's latest firmware first.

Select an AR7RD ADAM2 1 PORT firmware.
Latest: routertech-ar7rd-adam2-1port-firmware-20110103.zip
Please read the instructions that come with the firmware files before you upgrade.
Note: a later version of the firmware may exist depending on the how up to date the RUC is.
The date-stamp may be superseded, but the rest of the filename should be the same.
With your current MTD values, you have to upgrade your firmware using a single firmware image. Do NOT try to upgrade by using separate config + kernel + filesystem images.
