Virus file?

Post by jpirie » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:11 pm

Hi all,
Just tried to download the Upgrade compatibility checker file and got a virus report from Kaspersky!

Could this be true? Kaspersky is pretty good and rarely wrong.

Thanks for any info.

It is a false positive. See: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1062&p=45612#p45612

Please get off here with your adverts :(

I did my own research and I can assure you I will be staying with Kaspersky and staying away from you.

Moderator? Please get rid of this virus :))

Corporate version of F-Secure has no issue with the download.

If you read Kapersky's description of the issue

http://www.securelist.com/en/descriptio ... ntavmu.igm

You will see that a program such as the ruc will always be detected, it communicates with your router, runs standard Linux commands via Telnet and downloads files.

bye.

Hi,
I understand this and was not complaining about the file in my last post just the person who was using my apparent misfortune as an opportunity to sell me software :(

I had already downloaded, run and successfully updated my Router yesterday :))

I do try to add emoticons in the right places to convey my feelings but I seem to fail quite often these days.

To Summerise, I know now that the file was not a Virus but was taking issue with the person trying to sell on a user forum.

Thanks.
