I have updated the 'Recent Topics' page to with a drop-down to specify a date range. You must click on the 'view topics' button for changes to take effect.

You will also notice a 'watch' column - this does something similar to what shotokan101 asked for - it allows you to start watching the topics listed. Be aware that it doesn't check to see if you are already watching a topic - if that is the case nothing will happen when you click on 'Watch' ;)

Desired behaviour on clicking "watch" on "Wa

Post by Shotokan101 » Wed May 03, 2006 1:13 pm

Been checking out the modded Watched Topics Watch function and when you click on "Watch" it not only adds the page to your watched topics but it then takes you to the Topic page...... :?

I know it's a matter of personal opinion but it would seem more natural (to me) for it to leave you on the "watched topics" page instead" :?

I'ts no biggie as you obviously just need to "back arrow" but thought I'd mention it.

That's just the easiest way I could see to do it; recycling the code at the bottom of each topic to subcribe, which takes you to that topic as a consequence. If you don't want it to redirect at all, then I will endeavour to use the same method as watched_topics.php ...

It was more an Observation really than a suggestion based, I guess, on my original thinking on the "radio-button/check-box" theme....... so don't go out of your way - it obviously works fine

Untill I code a function to interface directly with the db it has to work like that; the page you go to has a function on it anyway so no reason to repeat what you don't need to. It also has the error checking what stops you subscribing "twice" (it just shows you the page is you do).

After all, how can you want to subscribe without at least viewing the first page of the thread? ;)

The 'Recent Topics' page has now been modified so that one is able to watch/unwatch any of the topics listed (and not be directed away from the page). As a consequence of the aforementioned changes the page has been renamed to 'Active Topics'.

Is there any benefit to having the forum name listed along side the topic on the active topics page?
He ached all over. It wasn't just that his brain was writing cheques that his body couldn't cash. It had gone beyond that. Now his feet were borrowing money that his legs hadn't got, and his back muscles were looking for loose change under the sofa cushions.

Why not have it? lol It lets you know which forum the topic is in; handy if you need to be sure about what kind of reply can go where etc.
