I've read various efforts to get the 612 to work after the 824, and had little success. I need to get it working on a remote ethernet cable the other side of the house so I can call my lodgers when I'm in the states next week. (Tues 17th.) Have tired all the logical steps and after many hours given up.
I bought 2X ta612v's in Staples for £6.99 each, seemed a bargain. I was hoping to go to the states leaving one permanantly connected here in UK and then taking the other one with me to the US, but not really sure if that will work now.
I understand the mac address spoofing so you can get the free 555 minutes, but the 824 doesn't seem to support it, or even have a firewall setting after assigning a port to the 612, although the physical address is 192.168.61.1 and mine is the default 192.168.1.1 etc.
Do I have to connect the 612 to the modem then the 824 router so it can update and I can change the ip addy first? (If thats an option on the 612.)
Running out of time here, so might just loose the 555 mins and flash it clear then set it up for skype as I have a skype wifi phone and run a long phone extension lead to the other side of the house.
Thanks if you can help.
Barry.

As I wrote on another thread on this same subject:
studioeng wrote:* Enable Remote Access as explained in this thread.
* Make sure you have the TA612V connected via the Internet port NOT the LAN port.
* If you do not use uPNP (or it does not work correctly), you will need to set up port forwarding, or put the TA612V into the DMZ of your Modem Router.
I'm sure that will get you going.
