VNC problem inside own LAN!

Post by scgf » Tue Nov 03, 2009 5:09 pm

I can view the screen of my desktop iMac from outside my network using VNC. I simply enabled the existing rule in port forwarding and do vnc://x.x.x.x, using my externally facing IP address.

The strange thing is that from outside the network, accessing my iMac is very quick. From inside my own network it takes an age! I am not trying to use the external IP address, I am using the iMac's LAN address, ie: 10.0.0.101. (I have setup my router to use the 10.0.0.x IP address range). So what I am doing is vnc://10.0.0.101. Eventually it works, but why the wait? Is there something I need to enable? I thought inside your own network you could basically do as you please if you are the admin!

I am using the latest RouterTech firmware, BTW.

This evening I am getting an immediate connection via VNC. I wonder why it was so sluggish yesterday?
