To all who have contributed - this is going to be very useful!

Have downloaded and will look at tcpdump first.

Is the description AR7 binaries correct? Aren't they just mips le for Montavista Linux 2.4? I happen to know some binaries, such as msmtp can be picked up from my Routertech router and run on my Linksys/Tomato one which is also mips le (MV linux 2.4.3 I recall)

Well, perhaps the technical designation should be "mips le binaries for MontaVista Linux 2.4.17" :)
