Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Correction: The second rule defines source ports instead of destination. The way I see it though the router would prioritize outbound packets from port 22 (which makes no sense).
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Sorry, I take my last statement back - the second rule would be relevant for inbound SSH connections. This does assume the necessary port forwarding rule is active though.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Can anyone tell me what type of QOS queueing is used in RouterTech firmware (i.e. PQ, CQ, WFQ, CBWFQ, LLQ)?
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
legume described the early firmware version as "TI's priowrr qdisc", don't forget this is an old custom kernel with binary atm/dsp drivers.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Sounds like PQ then. The reason I asked is because I'm running a delay-sensitive app which sends a small amount of data (about 300 bytes) every 10 seconds which requires absolute priority over all other traffic under full upstream load. I have yet to encounter a consumer-grade DSL router firmware which does this as well as RT firmware. Absolutely top-notch. I wish this queueing scheme were available on standard firmwares as RT is unfortunately not supported on newer DSL routers.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
One other question: What is the purpose of the Normal Service check box under TOS Marking? Is the TOS field modified when this is checked? Cheers.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
From what I gather this does modify the TOS field. Two other things I've been wondering about concern Trusted Mode and TOS Marking: I know TOS has been deprecated, but for the purpose of clarity I would like to know how it is treated in RT firmware; i.e. which TOS values are assigned to which queue?
Concerning TOS Marking I would like to know the TOS values for each of the five options; i.e. Normal Service, Minimize monetary cost, Maximize reliability, Maximize throughput and Minimize delay. Any info on this would be appreciated.
