Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
A very good guide indeed! Unfortunately it doesn't tell how to do what I hope to do: is there a way to make some kind of rule which give priority to an IP address instead of a port?
e.g. I want all traffic on IP 192.168.1.99 to have high priority, is this possible?

Dunno. What I know can be done is to throttle the bandwidth by IP address (with rshaper or netshaper) - by definition, any IP address that is not so throttled will have a fuller bandwidth .tasso85 wrote:e.g. I want all traffic on IP 192.168.1.99 to have high priority, is this possible?

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Isn't rshaper on the last routertech firmware? perhaps I'll give it a try.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
I'd like to ask a clarification: in the "IP QoS" settings, is "Source port" the port I'm connecting to, or the port to which che connection arrives?
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Best explanations for using the QoS stuff in routertech can be found in the following PDF:
http://www.ixbt.com/comm/adsl/acorp-lan ... webcfg.pdf
Particularly, QoS section on page 132.

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
I read manual in first post and pdf, try different configuration but nothing work
I would only set low priority for all internet comunication (all port & protocol) to and from (up & down), only for one pc in my lan.
I can do this?! Ip qos on routertech work?!
I have understand that for upstream comunication i'd select my WAN in "Choose a connection".
"Source ip": ip of my lan pc to limit
"Source Netmask:" i try 255.255.255.0 and 255.255.255.255
"Protocol": any
...and for downstream i'd select my Lan group.
the same as above but set "Destination IP" and "Destination Netmask".
I also try to invert, but nothing...where i wrong?!
thanks in advantage...and sorry for my bad english
p.s. i know there are rshaperctl and netshaper, but this tool limit always bandwith for selected ip...

Which router and firmware are you using?

You have right: I use RouterTech_3.6.0D_20090922_2.91.1 on dlink g604tthechief wrote:Which router and firmware are you using?
This is my digniostic.sh report (http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=39ZkEbSh). ...with qos disabled!
thanks for time and help!!

The firmware has Qos support, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
ok, but for me don't work...is this correct configuration for set low priority for an ip on lan on any protocol???:thechief wrote:The firmware has Qos support, so I don't know what you're talking about.
Code: Select all
I have understand that for upstream comunication i'd select my WAN in "Choose a connection".
"Source ip": ip of my lan pc to limit

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Nice guide. Thanks to OP. But RT firmware does not like so many entries. I have added all high priority settings in first page, a game and 2 other programs. Now I can't add more because routers IP qos page stops responding and deletes all qos settings before I have added. perhaps a memory issue? I don't know.
Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
With RT 2.96 1350A firmware , the 'IP-QOS' page is only avalible via the traffic light links on the right of 'Lan Group Configuration' page but various older documentation refers to the 'IP-QOS' page being a dedicated page under 'Advanced'
Is this changed behaviour or is it a bug
Thanks

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
A number of things in the 1350A firmware are different from the "standard" firmwares.

Re: Mini-FAQ: QoS setup on the RouterTech firmware
Concerning the given example it doesn't seem to me that adding the same rule a second time under a different name will accomplish anything additional. Selectable physical interfaces are LAN 1-4 and WLAN, so this qos appears to be for outbound prioritization only (which is the most important, LAN being faster than WAN).
