dead d-link g604t and pc tool
Tried to update firmware and failed, so router seems dead cannot ping it. Using pc tool I can reach it as 192.168.100.2, user adam2 message comes up saying successfully logged in. But if I try to update firmware with downloaded kernel I get message "550 data socket not ready". Can anyone tell me my next step, have bought a Netgear router and it works great- just wanted to bring this one back from dead if I could. Cheers.

You can view the router's environment variables with the pctool. What is the value of IPA (or my_ipaddress)?

ip address is 192.168.100.1. I had to edit prog and put this in to get router to register (as per last paragraph) viewtopic.php?t=335

I would suggest obtaining the MTD values from someone who has RT v2.3 installed (can one of you guys please post here?),. Then set the correct MTDs via the pctool, and try again.

Here is the whole environment of my D-Link G604T running 2.3:
I forget what it is called, but someone a while ago suggested a D-Link program which can update/repair/resurrect these routers, I personally used it and got this router back.

I have never needed to do it, but guess you can create script files for the mtd's if needed containing "setenv mtd0 x,y" etc, but the only reference on this site are commands to unsetenv, because usually the PC-TOOL sets them correctly for you - but you said in first post pc-tool didn't work for you..
D-Link do supply a Tiupgrade tool, which I guess is what studioeng used in the past. DarkWolf supplies a customized version of this for his version of the Routertech firmware for this router so should work...
For info on this tool see

and to the Aus firmware with tool available here

On the left side, highlight "Environement Space" [sic], make sure that "Binary" is checked, click on "upload", and you will see the dialog box in the attached screenshot. Highlight the variable you want to change, and click on "Edit", etc. etc.joandemma wrote:I am still at a loss, how do I go about setting mtd values with pc tool. I assume they are the values mtd0-mtd4, listed above.

Well, it is the "Upload" button that you click on ...

Indeed it does. But that is also how you edit the env.
