can any1 check ti up and fix it?
I did experience the same behaviour while downloading the latest firmware for my router; I had to download the file from a friend's computer (using the same ISP like I do, but different router).

Indeed it's strange.

Are you using any download 'accelerators' ? As I have found '"Fesh download" has caused problems on some sites from work (not an RT router).

There appear to be some issues with corrupted downloads at the moment. I think the issue is site related and not download accelerators. Something like this has been seen before and it will be looked at by those in the know.

Can you provide a link and we'll take a look...
Certainly.
Here is the latest official firmware for the DSL-G624T: ftp://ftp.dlink.gr/Adsl/DSL-G624T/Firmw ... A.20070924

Thank you very much in advance.
It will be in firmware v2.6 :)

I've discovered the following behaviour of RT firmware 2.5 on my D-Link DSL-G624T that is not described on the manual or in the forum (via search): the "Restart Wireless" function does not actually restart the wireless module but instead turns it off.

This was discovered while my router was running where I decided to set-up some MAC access lists for wireless clients (to keep off the occasional sniffer in the neighbourhood). After setting up the list, I saved my options and pressed the "Restart Wireless" button from Tools->System Commands, in order to restart the wireless module with the new options. The WLAN led turned off and the wireless interface never came up (the WLAN led never turns on).

The only solution is to perform a factory reset the router. Even by restoring my saved settings (using the "Upgrade Gateway" option and fetching my saved backup.bin file), the WLAN led does not turn on. The Home screen says that wireless LAN is enabled, but the SSID does not appear on my clients.

Is it possible - by using a command perhaps - to restart the wireless interface without hard-resetting the router and re-enter all configuration again?

Many thanks in advance.

It should work. It works perfectly fine here - including on a G604T.

Unfortunately it does not; here's the output of System Diagnostics - notice the absence of the wireless module.

In order to re-enable the wireless module, I have to fiddle a bit with my settings (i.e change from Mixed mode to G only and turn off 4X options) then perform a Save All and Restart Router but not Restart Access Point, otherwise the wireless module gets deactivated.

Is this normal?

No. And this is the first time I have ever heard of a problem of this nature. I am afraid I have no answer for you since I cannot reproduce the problem. It should work, and it works with every wireless router I have seen. If someone wishes to donate a 624T, then we can see whether the problem is reproduceable, or whether there is something peculiar to your particular router that crashes the tiap driver.

I am assuming that you reset to factory defaults after upgrading, etc.

firmware download problems...

Ditto - been trying to download routertech-rohs-ar7wrd-pspboot-firmware-20080331.zip for an Aztech 605EW; for the past several days, same problem - gets cut at 1 to 1.5MB - today even worse - 96KB.

No download accelerators on this system either...

Would really appreciate it if someone could send it via e-mail instead: cong_alt01 at yahoo dot com

TIA!

Yes, I've followed the instructions to the letter.
The AP is working now, so I am not complaining.

Unfortunately I do not have a spare router to donate; if I found another one, I'd be glad to donate mine.

Here's some more info, maybe they can aid you in discovering what's the problem.

Before performing a "Restart Wireless", the command lsmod returns:
Module Size Used by
tiap 708536 1
tiatm 133520 1
After performing the "Restart Wireless" command, lsmod returns only the tiatm module. What I did was an 'insmod tiap'. After that, the WLAN led turned on again and insmod returns
Using /lib/modules/2.4.17_mvl21-malta-mips_fp_le/kernel/drivers/net/tiap.o
insmod: A module named tiap already exists
It seems that the "Restart Wireless" command kills but does not reload the tiap kernel mode driver.

I am afraid this does not tell me why the problem is happening. It should not be happening. The driver should reload automatically without requiring user intervention. Something is certainly wrong. Perhaps you may want to flash your firmware again.

I might do it next week; right now the router works fine with v2.5 and I do not have the time to afford a downtime.

Thanks.
