AirTies RT-205 125Mbps 1Port Wireless ADSL2/2+ Modem

Post by SubZero5 » Thu Jun 05, 2008 3:13 pm

Hi,

I have an AirTies RT-205 modem and want to use the RouterTech firmware with it.

Device has 2 memory chips (EON EN29LV320B-70TCP 167516A 0703TDA, ISSI IS42S16800A-7TL FA6X27830 0701) and 2 cpu chips (TI TNETD7200ZDW 6AZKX89 E1, TI TNETW1350A 10-6BD9KCT G1).

sorry, I forgot the question part.. :D

Will my AirTies RT-205 work with the RouterTech firmware?

What else do you want? Information, log, query etc..

I would imagine so. But you should run the RUC and follow whatever it tells you.

Further to your PMs, SubZero5, I believe the problem you were having with the RUC might have stemmed from from something preventing the cm_cli_tty module from being uploaded on to the router (a firewall or one or more devices between your router and your PC). However, I'm not certain because you didn't really include much information about what you had tried in the readme file :)

Based on the RUC output data you provided, it would have said
Your current firmware logic is too old to upgrade to a RouterTech firmware. Please upgrade to your router manufacturer's latest firmware and run this program again.
Since the NSP version is 1.0.25.

Are you sure? The router is a TNETW1350A device, using dsp/atm 7.0x. So both the firmware and router are quite up to date, and the NSP version would have to be 3.7.x.

If the firmware has "cm_cli" on it (which it should), you can run this command

Code: Select all

echo "logic:status/nspver" | cm_cli
From the details posted, the router should be fine with the TNETW1350A wireless firmware - but there are some things in the environment that may need to be changed (e.g., the IPA should be set to 192.168.1.1, and I can't see any entry for IPA_SVR, which should be set to 192.168.1.2).

This is part of what SubZero5 sent in one of his PMs:

Code: Select all

echo "logic:status/nspver" | /var/cm_cli_tty
1.0.25
so I am only going by that (as the RUC would)

Also the vlynq_polarity variable is missing from the environment, which may be required.

By looking at the firmware I can tell you its got a different switch to my 600EW and it uses ATM7.01 !

 I really wish manufacturers would stop messing with NSP version numbers when the release firmwares. "1.0.25" means nothing, and, you are right - it would have thrown the RUC completely.

but
# echo "logic:status/nspver" | /var/tmp/cm_cli
#
the firmware does not have the cm_cli_tty but the RUC uploads it and stops.. dont know why it stops.. if only i could have the commands that RUC sends.. The cm_cli_tty looks:
# cd /var ; ls -latr cm_cli_tty
-rw-r--r-- 1 0 0 12539 Jun 6 20:47 cm_cli_tty
# chmod 755 cm_cli_tty
#
then I can run this command.. ;)

The model numbers are here: airties.com I am using the Turkish Turk Telekom firmware for RT-205 (aka: RT-205TT but you may use the ).
mstombs wrote:By looking at the firmware I can tell you its got a different switch to my 600EW and it uses ATM7.01 !
huh? :D and what is that supposed to mean? current RouterTech firmware will not work? :)

PS: I have a fair knowledge of unix/linux (real good with respect to those windows guys) am a good networking guy. I may help you if you can reach me via GTalk. I am PM'ing you my details. Hope we can talk online and speed up most of the things.

And I have a spare modem to connect to the net. So, as long as I can re-install the original firmware to the router, I can fiddle with it with no problems. I think the RT-205 has a PSP bootloader.

PS: Can I really brick this modem?

And another question, everytime I post, the board sends me to: viewtopic.php?t=1874. Why does it do that?

I was interested in your firmware because it is very recent. pspboot 1.4 is pretty robust - probably the worst you can brick is that wireless/Ethernet do not work (but then I look using serial console) and you need the pctool or ftp to recover to your original firmware. Routertech firmware now supports at least 3 types of switches, so not really a surprise other firmwares don't.

OK, I have looked at the AirTies website and re-read the title of this thread - your router is 1-port it doesn't have a switch, so the Ethernet probably won't work.

The RT211 does look closer to the 4-port devices we expect.

Where did you come to the desicion of my router did not have a switch? :)
I have contacted with the manufacturer and he told me that I can share the modem via switch/hub. This means that my router has a switch. Right?
