No, the memory size has nothing to do with the identity of the bootloader. His bootloader is Adam2.

@darkmage12: your router is clearly not bricked. There are a number of reasons why you may be having this problem, and each of them covered in the docs:
1. Your "modulation" is wrong. Fix = Set it to "MULTI_MODE"
2. Your MRU/MTU is too high. Fix = reduce it (first, to 1452, then 1432, then 1400, etc., until you can connect). If this is the problem, then it should work at 1400.
3. You have more than one connection. Fix = delete one of them (e.g., the default "quickstart" connection).

If none of these fixes the problem, then go to the "Tools" menu in the web interface, and run the system diagnostics, and then post the result here (after removing all sensitive personal data - you need to check through it carefully before posting).

BTW: how did you do the reset to factory defaults?

I done 1 and 3 before and it doesn't work as for 2 never tried and now i can't access the router. Reset to factory defaults was by using the router web interface

Well, I should like to see the system diagnostic.

Did you upgrade with a single image or separate images?

Can you connect to the router via telnet or ssh? If so, can you ping the outside world from the telnet/ssh session inside the router?

I did the upgrade with separate images.

Telnet result

Connecting to 192.168.1.1... Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

System diagnostic can't do as i cannot access it

Seems that it is really bricked now, but it wasn't bricked in the beginning. What happened between the two ?

What version of the pctool are you using? You need to use version 2.1.

Ditto on this. If you get the zip from the debricking thread you get 2.1 and 2.3 versions. Although they look the same you'll find quickly that what works for one router may not be quite so good for another.

Hi i have an equivalent router and im having the same problems as you.

I flash with pctool 2.1 with no problems but there are a few tricks in order for it not to freeze.

1- turn off all u're antivirus and spyware software (especially windows defender if u have it)

2- do 1 thing at a time in pctool. if u need to change the environment space, do it, then close pctool and turn the router off. Now open pctool again, turn on the router and immediately flash. (if u're using 2 files to flash, flash one, close pctool, open it again and flash the 2nd)

Believe me, this steps are very important. My pctool used to freeze every time also and now i have no problems with that.

Now for my problem (your old problem)...i've been happily using RouterTech_3.6.0D_20070227_2.20_AR7WRD_Adam2_ATMEL_firmware.upgrade.img for more than 1 year now with no problems. Suddenly yesterday i couldnt access the internet but i could go into the routertech web interface and everything seemed fine, internet was connected but couldnt access any page. After resetting to defaults and trying many things i never could access the internet so i flashed to an old firmware i had from my routers manufacturer and now i could access the internet with no problems. So i flashed again to the routertech firmware and again, everything seemed fine in the web interface but no internet. I have flashed back and forward and always the same thing. I have no idea why it doesnt work with routertechs firmware anymore!

I have upgraded to routertech firmware 2.6 but same thing happens :(

I tried the 3 steps u said here but no go (i use mtu=1492 wich is the value advised by my network provider), so here is the system diagnostic from my router:

*EDIT: I found the solution in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=2278&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

Its a DNS server problem. Something my ISP (clix adsl) changed and now i cant use my isp dns servers with routertech firmware (dont really know why) so i use OpenDNS and everytng is fine.
